i'm a 14 year old girl who desperately wants to trim off fat. i have "permernant" unburned fat on my stomach, belly, thighs and butt. these are my main probems as my upper body doesn't seem to be fat at all. i read articles about how to trim your body without gaining muscle, one of them mentioned that leg lifts will help do that. is this true? if it is, can someone tell me HOW to do leg lifts? cause i've never really excercised in my life, so i don't know a single thing about it. some one PLEASE help me. and if anyone else knows how to trim calves to be extremely slim and defined, PLEASE tell me too. Thank you!

I'll answer the second part of your question. To trim your calves, there's only one solution: Lots of aerobics, like running, jogging, swimming or cycling. The problem with fat loss is that there is no such thing as targeted fat loss, which means that your body burns fat from all parts. Leg lifts won't trim leg fat, but it will make your legs stronger and more toned. Static exercises such as sit-ups won't slim your waist either, and if taken to excess will actually increase it as it makes your abdominal muscles bigger. However static exercises are a good complement to your fitness routine.

To do leg lifts you need a bench press with the leg lift attatchment. You sit on the bench, put some weights on the lift, and lift your legs up. Some also have the ability to let you lay face down, and bring your legs up that way. As for the price-I bought my bench with a leg lift attachment and some weights for around $200. If that is too much, you could get a membership to a gym, or sometimes schools have a weight room that you can use after school for free-mine does. Ask your phys. ed. teacher. I hope this helps, and that you can get in shape!

To do leg lifts properly you need to lay on your side. Tighten the muscles in your leg and lift it off your other leg. Hold the position for a couple of seconds then release. Repeat the process for 10 to 15 mins the switch to the other side so you can work the other leg. The trick is to make sure you keep you leg muscles tight the entire time.

I recommend going to Walmart or Target and picking up an exercise DVD. Some good trainers are Denise Austin, Crunch videos, The Firm, Karen Voight and Tamilee Webb. Just spend $10 and get one DVD.

Videos are great because they take you through a variety of exercises and show you the proper form and give you instruction on how to execute each move or exercise.

You can't spot reduce, either. You can't just work your legs and expect good results. Our bodies need to be in balance and a good overall workout will give you the best results.

I recommend doing aerobic exercise. Start out slow by walking then go into running and jump roping. Do any activity thats gets you moving and is fun (Dancing is one). I used to be just like that but over the summer I took PE in summer school and that got me feeling much better then on my own I started exercising and I lost 50lbs (altogether). You cant expect to keep weight in one specific area while losing in another. The body loses weight colectively.

Well your not getting anywhere by sitting on your *** on Yahoo! answers.

Buy some 10 or 15 pound ankle weights,
put them on your Ankles, and go running/jogging, what ever goes easy on your blood flow.

If you do that daily it should help,
try doing some sit ups for the belly fat.

If you really wanna slim down, cut down on the
proteins, and fatty foods ABVIOUSLY.

And, how many sit ups do you ask ?
i'de say a couple hundred a day, if you have time.

well good luck babe. =]
