Generally, the bookie will only pay out each way on the first four in a race with 16 or more runners, although occasionally, if the race is popular with punters e.g. Aintree Grand National, some bookies will pay out on the first five past the post. The bookie will normally state this before the race is run, and the punter should specify this also on their docket when placing the bet, in order to avoid confusion after the race. Otherwise, fifith place is not paid out by the bookie.

No - you only win if your selection is placed in the first three (usually a 5th of the odds a place) or sometimes a quarter the odds the first four home in a handicap with 16 or more runners

Depends on your bookmaker. The standard rule is for a handicap with 16 or more runners they will pay places 1/4 odds, 1-2-3-4. Some bookmakers have special offers so you need to check with whom you placed the bet.

u dont get a place for 5th with big bookies like william hills and tote and that, but if u go to an independant bookies sometimes they have special bets where they will say over so many runners they will pay out on each way up to fifth place so next time it might be best to look a round at which bookies will do that.

not in america payoffs are for 3 finishers.unless you play exotics wnich are first 4 finishers.if they had a 5 horse payoff the cost would be in the millions to cover all possibles with 31 horses.now you must be in another country as we do not allow that many horses in a race here for the safety of the horses.

I'm not real good with the math of gambling, but I grew up in Kentucky where the gambling on horse races are HUGE! The Kentucky Derby of course:-) Ok, I think there is 3 ways to win called Win, Place and Show. Yes, I think you may have won. But check with the place where you placed the bet first. Don't celebrate just yet. GOOD LUCK, Girl! woohoo

i wrk in the betting industry and it is usually just the 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th, but i do know that sometimes rival bookmakers on the net do special deals for certain races offering the 5th place but you have to scan the net for these bookies.
