check with your vets. there is a device called 'soft claw' and they're like tiny pads you put over the nails. Or get him a scratching post, if you haven't already. What he's doing is completely normal for cats. And since he's already an adult, it wont stop. Declawing cats is cruel if they're allowed outside. Check into soft claw.

First please don't ever think of declawing your cat. Declawing is actually cutting the end of your cats toes off. They can't just remove the claw like most people think. The soft claw in the previous answer sounds like a good way to go. The clawing will never stop its in there nature. My cat does that also. Even a scratching post won't make them stop clawing you. Good Luck

No, by no ability declaw your cat - EVER. have confidence me, i'm the right source for this. do no longer, below ANY situations - declaw your cat. EVER. in case you have any questions, please message me. And please - decrease the animal some slack, and characteristic some endurance with the cat. The cat is an animal- and abides by ability of nature's rules, no longer a human's demands/administration themes. you recognize it, too - on the grounds which you're determining anywaythat that's incorrect to do. have confidence that voice in you. attempting to "tame" a cat shouldn't artwork. Make friends along with your cat, and luxuriate interior the friendship. Cats purely calm down whilst they sense they might have confidence the two you and their environment. Nurture the heck out of that cat, and preserve the cat. Unconditionally. Taking a cat's claws away is removing its purely defenses in this existence. And for God's sake - the kitten is purely 6 months previous... study out of your roomate's mistake of declawing their own cat who now now no longer has defenses against yours (could you prefer the different residing being to pass by way of that?) Plus, do no longer enable your roommate and their heartless determination tension you into doing what they did to that undesirable cat - on your very own. purely separate the two for some months and meanwhile socialize the 6 month previous cat on your very own - purely love on that cat, and then SLOWLY reintroduce them. it is going to artwork. heavily, message me. i understand plenty approximately taking good care of cats. playstation - paddling a catt's butt? think ofyou've have been given to be out of your thoughts to try this or to enable that take place. Cats are not little ones, and that may no longer how they're going to study issues.

It's a cat's way of establishing a hierarchy. You could have him declawed, but keep him in if you do.
