I've been doing Karate for a few months and enjoy it a lot. The lower belts like yellow and green seem a guaranteed pass because they're so simple but at which level do people start to fail gradings, assuming that you go to a good school that doesnt fix it and pass everyone?

most seem to fail at 5th kyu any many fail at 1st kyu it's a big jump and one short of shodan, then again i have failed many people who end to think they are ready for 3rd dan black, it's alot more involved into the art than people think.

I do Kempo don't Karate, but I have seen a lot of people come and go. Most people will leave after they get their orange or purple belt (white, yellow, orange, purple, blue, green, brown, black). In my school it takes on average 5 years to reach black belt. I think when it starts to get harder, where you have to pratice more at home people say forget it.

Most people will in time attain green belt, many people give up at this level because progression to senior grades (brown and black belts) is more difficult, and tends to involve being able to fight (a bit).

Due to the increase in knowledge of your techniques and terminology and your ability to lead or teach a class, it's usually around green belt or brown belt, because you'll usually know the techniques by that time, and will be given more responsibility with teaching classes or lower ranking class members in their techniques.

After 12 weeks in Krava Maga you fight 2 disarmed opponents or 1 opponent with a knife, stick, etc.

i gave up when i was learning my green kata. also had a fight at school with thre school bully and lost. lol

It varies school to school. Just watch & listen & you will learn what happens in your school.
