My neighbor's teenaged daughter has confided in me that she has been having odd dreams and visions at night. Her younger sister shares this room with her, and she sees and hears nothing and feels nothing bad. However, the teen swears up and down that some spirit, supposedly, is harrassing her in her sleep. Supposedly, it's calling a name in her ear and scratching her face in her sleep.

She really does have markings on her face too. Her nails are incredible short, so I doubt it was her nails. Plus, the scratches are thin and fine, moreso like fine nicks from a razor blade instead of even sharp fingernails. The reason I don't buy it is because she seems troubled, has been diagnosed with anxiety as well as a behavioral disorder, and this all began happening once the mother grouded her for 2+ weeks, and did not allow her to go to the homecoming ball.

I gave her a white blessing candle just in case she was being truthful, but I doubt it. Is she being "for real" in your opinion?

there is a condition called sleep paralysis
this is where the body releases a hormone prior to dreaming that stops our body acting out our dreams
this is often accompanied with soemthing called hynagogic state which is when we are awake too soon or wake during the hormone release
this can bring about some waking dreams so to speak and can seem very very real and is quite scary
it is reported that people often see or feel a presence in the room with them when this happens , also many other strange occurences ( do a search on the condition )

many people have reported scratches also and this may be due to clothing , nails , bed springs etc but also ...
we can manifest marks on ourself ( like stigmata ) by the power of our own thought ( this is fact )
if she feels threatened by anything negative then this is possible

it is known that people may have this more profoundly if they are stressed or going through some emotional trauma and on medications etc
it seems again this fits with the girl
a doctor may be able to help in easing this problem
i hope this helps xx

As one person commented, the girl may be having sleep paralysis. This may be associated with a sleep disorder called narcolepsy which usually develops during puberty.

Is the girl sleepy during the day? You may suggest to the mother that she request that her family physician refer her daughter to a sleep clinic for polysomnographic (PSG) testing. There are medications that help with the symptoms of narcolepsy. The behavior and anxiety could also be part of a sleep disorder.

It is best to take such complaints that kids have seriously and look for scientific rather than paranormal causes. If people just dismiss the complaints as a cry for attention the girl will feel that no one cares about her. She may only be having psychological problems but they are very real to the girl so they should be taken seriously. However, it is the place of the parent to address these issues. If what the girl told you was confidential, you may suggest to the girl that both of you talk with her mother. You should not betray her confidence.

It could just be acting out. If she was mad at her mom or dad for something, this can be her way of acting out. Who knows the little sister might even be in on it. She could just be playing a joke

or

I'm more of a mystic type of person, so it is possible that a spirit is harassing her in her sleep, Its possible but is a long shot.

or

She could be is such a deep sleep(delta sleep) that she is acting out something in a dream. Sort of like sleep walking or sleep talking.

Anyone of these can be an explanation to what is happening.
Hope she gets over it or gets better.

With both of my pregnancies, I experienced two "periods" each time. It's not an actual period--it's implantation bleeding or spotting, which are fairly common. The flow can be anywhere from just a slight pink to period-like.

A similar thing was happening to my ex-partner. She was hearing voices and even scratches were found on her. I once caught her troubled in her sleep and found it hard to wake her, and when I did she dreamt of demons and cult worship.

Now I've had a few experiences myself not after I delivered her from it. We have power over all evil spirits when we are Christians remember. Now she has left me and I think its troubling her again after 5 years.

Just pray and take authority with the word of God

Teen-aged girls can attract some nasty 'spirits', I have seen this happen. Her emotional upheaval at being grounded could possibly get some bad events going like this. I would give her the benefit of the doubt, like you have done, and offer help. Then wait and see what happens after that. If it is manipulation you will see this eventually.

If she is suffering from anxiety and behavioral disorder she may have more mental conditions, you may need to sit down and have a talk to her parents before she really hurts herself...

She's lashing out and trying to get attention... that's all. I don't read anything here to suggest otherwise.
