I don't believe any religion makes anyone a better person. If someone chooses to become a devout Christian or not, I'm still bound to respect them. I think being a good person links with how you treat others and yourself, not your religion...

Of course yes! If that is what you want and if you discipline yourself with biblic laws and as a result it creates more love and care for human kind and works for your betterment.
It is not only for christianism, but joining any religion has this effect if you know how to practice it well and be under the guidance of a well learnt religious priest or pastor or any well learnt individual to help you to make your life more "humane" and surpress evil thoughts and wrong actions.
But beware! Do not grab all they say. Always consult the bible. Always consult another one if you are doubt. Don't take anything for granted. IF you feel something is wrong, not christian then you must go find. Whatever you find wrong but you do it will surely have negative effect on your practice and belief.
Hope to have answered your question.

No. It's the Christians here who make personal attacks. For example, yesterday a "Christian" told me that I am old and ugly, so I should change my avatar. This was his/her response to a question that I asked about the Bible. Another attacked me for being home on a work day, not even bothering to ask or figure out that I work part-time.
So what does make you a better person, you may ask. Many things do, such as volunteering in your community, giving to charity, or doing a small act of kindness. Certainly not simply being a member of a religion.

Better than what?
ALL religions have the same basic codes of behavior. They all share what is encouraged (give to the poor), what is forbidden (10 commandments) and principles like the golden rule. Even agnostics and atheists comply with these doctrines because they are broad rules for right living. The people who have the character, generosity and strength of will to do the right thing are the better persons, regardless of their personal beliefs.

Religion really has nothing to do with what kind of person you are...I am a Christian but I've come across other Christians and other religions that are just pure mean...
Morals and Values have a lot to do with a person...

I agree with Spirit Walker. Just becoming a Christian isn't all of it. You have to have a relationship with Jesus, and truly believe that he saved your life. If you let him guide you, instead of unruly influences, you probably will become a better person! It just depends on how you hold onto it.

Absolutely NOT ! As many injustices and travesty have been committed in the name of Christianity as have been in other religions, I am certain.
I know of no religion that has a monopoly on goodness or on salvation or "heaven".
And guess what? It is possible to lead a good, ethical and moral life and make good contributions to mankind regardless of any religious affiliations.

Yes I do but it doesn't mean that you'll live the rest of your life without fault. Anyone who is truly a Christian will find sin detestable and stay away from it and if they fall into sin they will regret it and seek Godly repentance which leads to forgiveness.

Yes, but like all good things...it takes time and effort. God never promised us a rose garden...I think it says that in an old song, and it is true...if we are a thorn to begin with, we will stay that way until we realize that we need to become more like the Rose of Sharon (another name for Christ) to be happy.

How can it?
When did Christianity involve making you personnally feel better?
and what will then differentiate a Christian from a Drug User?
