I speak to children and young people throughout the year, and here is a suggestion for you:
Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not. Ecclesiastes 12.
Solomon exhorted young people to think of God when they were young, and he also tells of the evil of growing old.
I pray that this will help.
God bless you.

I agree with an earlier answer - seek God as to what He would have to say, however I know it's sometimes hard to see the answers - so why not have a look at some resources on the net - there's loads of stuff out there - christiancrafters.com has loads of kids talks. it's also worth having a look at some at kingskids (sorry don't have the proper address) or Scripture Union materials - saves you loads of prep time!
One of my favourite talks is about purpose: simply take in a few obscure objects and have the kids guess what each one is used for (you'll need to know the answers!). Then go on to talk about how God created each one of them for a special purpose, just like the objects. EAch one of them has a unique purpose that God has put aside for them to do, they have gifts and talents to help them do this, but the most importantly it is God who will enable them to do it etc etc.
Hope this gets you started, but seek God first, He knows what these particular kids need to hear when you speak to them. Keep it short and simple - one illustration and one point - keep it relevant.

I agree with 'ChooseRay' 100%!
Wouldn't it be a novelty to tell the kids the truth, little things that the Gospels they have heard so much about were not actually written by Matthew Mark Luke John! Also that there were originally thirty plus Gospels that have mostly bee edited out of existence by church leaders, tell the children that, and tell them why!
Or perhaps it would be better to keep telling them fairy tales about Jesus being born in a manger during a non existent census!!
I dont suppose the truth would go down very well with the other Christians would it??
Good luck in your story telling!!

Speak on how religion is mostly guesswork and you can't really take anything you hear in church to be true. There's a whole world out there and kids should grow up with an open and critical mind and figure it all out for themselves based on the evidence that is available to them... not some 4,000 year old manuscript of the ramblings of ancient madmen.

Do the Parable of the Talents. You could invlove a few children and get them to hold real money (that gets wow effect in Primary School pupils). Depending on the area wether you get your money back or not.

Speak on how Jesus loves children since they display the greatest trait of God, which is innocent love.
Children love you no matter how you treat them; they easily forgive since they bestow all their trust on us adults. A child's love is genuine and it is us the adults who tarnish their vision through our selfish needs.
If the world was ruled by a child, then peace would prevail all around us.God is love and this is illustrated more through the eyes of a child.

Try one of the parables. The Good Samaritan might be particularly appropriate in these times of inter-faith and cultural strife. Its underpinning message of goodwill to all, irrespective of faith, wealth or nationality exemplifies the tolerance and altruism of Christ's teaching.

Read the gospel of John. That is a great place to start. Your best illustration will be the way you live your life.
