Okay first im a 20yr old 10th grade dropout and need a way to get a high school diploma. A couple of my friends are taking a detailed test through all the subjects and when they pass they r givin a high school diploma. What does it do does it give u the credits u need on ur transcript? Or does it just look like like u were in the 10th grade and took an advancement test and graduated? I was thinking about going through Keystone National High School and get the credits i need but it will cost me $379 a credit. Any ideas on a cheaper method to get the credits i need in the shortest amount of time ?

From the little I've read, it appears that NJ homeschoolers are private schools and would be allowed to issue their own diplomas. That means your parents can issue you a diploma when they determine you have finished high school. You will NOT receive a diploma from the local public school. I found nothing to say that you need to take the GED, so I would avoid that - it still has the stigma of drop-out, and (if you have completed homeschool through high school) you did NOT drop-out. If you are using an accredited program, they will usually offer a diploma when you complete all of their requirements for graduation. Any of the above should be acceptable to most colleges.

I have no idea what it costs, but it will be easy for you to find out.

I Joined the Marines and left High school in the Eleventh grade.
When the war was over (WWII) I took a G.E.D. test and they gave me my diploma. Strangely enough the diploma had to be given with a graduating class, so it looked like I graduated at age 24.

I took the test in 1946, but to me it was like yesterday. Good Luck

Call your local school district and tell them you want to take the G.E.D. They probably have very cheap or free classes to prepare for it, including practice tests, and it really isn't that hard to pass. Your local high school or community will be able to point you in the right direction.

Go for it!
