It will be at least 1007 years before the end of the world... let me explain...
The rapture (the return of Christ) is first and that could happen at any moment really, then after Christ returns there will be a period of 7 years on earth called the tribulation, then after 7 years Christ will return again and reign on earth for 1000 years, then after 100 years the world will end and God will create a new world.
so we have at least 1007 years before the world will end.

They really mean the end of an age if you study Greek.
No one knows when the end of this current world civilization will end. Not even Yeshua.
Matthew 24:34-36 34 I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. 36 "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
I do belive we are in what they call the end times, the times leading up to the second coming of Yeshua. There are many signs of this (Matthew 24:3 - 44) in todays world but there are other events that have to happen namely the seven years of the tribulation when the anti-christ rules the world. So as you can see the end can not happen in a year.
You may think that with all the conflict in the world that we are close to total destruction but:
Matthew 24:6 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
All this does not mean that the tribulation is not close meaning it could start in lets say "2012" the date that many cultures including the Maya, Inca, some Native American tribes, believed that their Saviour that brought them civilization (Quezecotl for the Maya) would return. This is a perfect time for all religions that expect a messiah (Judaism, Islam, Christianity, etc...) to follow a leader such as the anti-christ without even suspecting anything until it is too late. Untill the events in the Bible come to pass, all of this is speculation.
Just look to the Bible in Revelation and Matthew 24:3 - 44 for more answers.

No one knows the day nor the hour when the end will come.
Although world events seem to tell us that the end is near, you must not fear the end.
Many are asking this question, and the followers of Jesus asked him when the end of the age would come.
No answer was given to them at that time, and there is no answer now.
Live a good life here and now with the time that you have this very moment, and you will have no worry about the end of time.

Every body has always been saying that the apocalypse is just round the corner. I mean i don't know if it was the same where you were but i knew quite a lot of people who were absolutly certain they were going to die 06/06/06 because of the assosciation with the devil. but personally i don't realy care when the world does end because i don't think there's very much i can do about it if it does.

It's always the end of the world.
The bible says not until all tarrying souls are saved. I think there are still more tarrying souls then not.
The other thing I was thinking about it that our universe is headed to ultimate entropy or disorganization. Our job is to create order from disorder - thus staving off the end of 'Time'. Creating reality is probably our only real job as a planet in a universal sense.

Jesus said no one will know the day or the hour. The world is not going to end next year because we still have to deal with the tribulation period and the anti-christ.
I believe though that it could happen within my lifetime though. If countries like Iran or North Korea start handing out nukes to the local terrorist groups... anything can happen.

While it's entirely possible (no one knows but God when he will return), I'm not inclined to think the world is ending next year. Certainly, we are in troubled times, but compare our moment in time to the time of Hitler. I'm sure our grandparents believed the end was coming and that Hitler was the anti-christ. Things could be worse, and I believe they will be worse before He returns. But I could be wrong, right?

From the Rapture of the Church, 1007 years.
From Christ's Triumphant Entry into Jerusalem, 1000 years.
This world is going to be around for a while, yet!

Nothing new with that prediction. The way I figure it, if the world is going to end, there's probably nothing I can do about it so I just keep living the best I can.

Did they tell you why? I wouldn't break a sweat unless they have proof. Everyone who's every said that the world will end has allways been wrong. There's no reason to expect they're not wrong as well unless there's a reason.
