Depression is caused by a number of things but a prolonged, ongoing depression is often caused by an imbalance of serotonin in the brain...it is absorbed in the brain too quickly...but there is also situational depression...you lost your job, someone close to you dies, etc and that is a natural and normal...it only becomes a problem if it does not get better after a time.
Also some people are prone to depression in the winter months only and is referred to as SAD or Seasonal Affective Disorder...that can be treated with getting more natural sunlight during the day and there are special lamps available for use in the home.
Depression is very complex and we all experience it some time in our lives...just do not stress overly if when you do...sometimes it is how you deal with depression that can make all the difference in the world.

Depression...the causes are still unclear but basically it's due to a problem with the level of neurotransmitters in ur brain, especially nor-adrenaline and serotonine...It can be caused by stress or other emotional shocks or it can just happen without any clear reason. There are evidence to suggest that depression can be linked to our genetic inheritance. There are various degrees of depression. Ranging from mild to severe...in the milder forms of depression u can still study but it will be harder to focus and u may have a decline in memory....But worrying and stress do not necessarily lead to depression. U could try to see a psy...

The best answer to your question I've ever seen was very simple. "Depression is caused by not getting what you think you want." The way to correct this problem is to examine that which is valued and see if the cost is too high. The world offers us many things that promise us happiness, but they always fall short of the mark. True happiness comes from within, not outside. Like the song says, "Looking for love in all the wrong places."

Deppression comes when the Inner you gives up to sustain the pressure of the outer world.

The only person who can decide to be affected by this is themselves,

Hey, Do you think you are that weak. So watch Gladiator. Thats how I've become self motivating. Believe me, be your own motivator.
