because good symbols represent good and evil symbols represent evil... which one would you rather identify with...
it's really not that difficult to figure out.

The problem is one person's "evil symbol" can often be someone else's sacred symbol. People often forget the point that sacred is more a personal view than anything else. Good holy symbols can be just offensive as the evil, and both are better avoided in large front yard displays.

Continuting to your last "Home owners association" restriction of property.
"Home owners associations" are hired by the people who live in an area united by a builder. When a person buys a home, they are agreeing to live similar to the people in the community. If the majority of the community is not "Christian" then the community could be against "Christian symbols".
I had a friend who lived in a community that dictated how her shutters should appear at differet times in the day. They were to be open in the mourning, half open in the mid-late afternoon, and then shut at night time. When she went on vacation, she was required to by timers to get all the shutters to do this ... or get a neighbor to do this for her. It was her choice to live in this crazy community with crazy home owners associates.
The community votes on who to manage the "Home Owners Association". They pay "Dues" to maintain the services of the managers of the "Home owners associations". Voting powers are granted to ensure everyone in the community can be heard. The community then can create what ever silly by-laws they want though the voting powers.

You have to understand there are as many if not more different types of Angels as there are Primate Species. The Angels is a generalized breed like a Primate. Comparing a Cherubangel to an Archangel is like comparing a Human to a Monkey. Archangels were built (Created) with the ability to know right and wrong and to ultimately have free will.

I saw a newspaper article on a home that had gargoyles, demons, dragons, skulls, etc., all around the house and in the yard. It was considered artsy, and no one complained, and no, it wasn't haloween. I guess the atheists aren't concerned unless they see a cross, which they certainly would have tried to get rid of. Strange, huh? They'll do anything to get rid of a cross, intimidates them or something, but everything else is fine.

Hey, that is a good question to bring up at your next city council meeting. What ordinances there are and exceptions they might make for satanic symbols. I mean, hey....there is a nude strip bar just down the street, so why would that be a problem

I also wonder what symbols you want to put up. If it's just a pentacle, I'm sure no one would say anything. But if it's graphic, the neighbors could complain. If you do something to lower the value of their homes, they sure are going to be screaming. I agree with one of the answerers who said that you need to check with your community for their guidelines.

A Virgin in a bathtub will bring down the value of your house as well as your neighborhood.
An upside down crucifix or swastika will attract nutcases and equally downgrade the neighborhood.
Religious symbolism in one's yard is bad for property values.
