Hi, my cat did the same thing or she would drag it across the floor and splash the water out as it went. I bought the continuous feed and water bowls with rubber bottoms so they can't be dragged. You clean and fill them once a week, perfect for busy households and kitty is always fed and has plenty of water

I doubt your cat has thought enough about it to correlate tipping the water dish and getting to drink out of the sink.
Cats a notorious for have strange, obsessive behaviors. I'm more attuned to the dog mind, so I don't understand it either, but if it bothers you, there are things you can do about it.
Yes, you ARE smarter than the cat.
Get a large, HEAVY bowl with no rims to catch. I would recommend one that is wider at the bottom than at the top. Those are harder to tip over. Or get one of those self filling waterers that has a large jar that feeds into a bowl below. This should be sufficiently heavy that the cat can't get it tipped.

My 5 1/2 month old kitten did that too. She would much rather drink cold water from the tap than from her water bowl. I have bought a 2 sided cat bowl. I put water in one side and her 'wet' food on the other side and her biscuits in a seperate bowl. It has helped a lot. She still jumps up on the sink to get a drink from the tap but atleast we don't have to clean up the water she spilt anymore.

We had a cat that did the same thing; even dipping his paw in the water and making a mess with it. We too noticed that he liked the water from the sink. Our solution: we put the full bowl of water in the sink; that way even when he knocked it over, no mess. Hope this helps!

My cat does the same thing. My husband and I have tried to figure out how to stop it, but the best solution we have found is to buy a different water bowl. We bought her one of the metal bowls with the black rubber around the bottom. The base is wider than the top so she can't knock it over at all. You can purchase them at any pet store or Wal-Mart. You might try that. Hope it works for you.

When he does that, say, "NO!" Don't scream at him, but speak in a stern voice. Also, the water bowl might smell weird to him. I'm not sure what you can do about THAT, but. He might also not like the way the water tastes. Make sure you are changing his water twice a day. You might also want to try putting an ice cube in his water.

Mine does too. I just gave in and give him fresh water. Every time I go to the bathroom, he follows me in there... I reach over and either turn on the faucet in the bathtub or the sink and he gets a drink.
If he gets thirsty in the meantime, he will go and lay down in the kitchen or bathroom sink, and that is my queue that he wants a drink!

My cat does that. Get a dog food bowl with a wide base, metal and with a rubber rim on the bottom.

Quite possibly. I have one cat that prefers the fawcet to the water bowl.
I found a water and food bowl that have two metal locks on them so they attatch to a mat on the floor. Check your pet store and see if you can find one like it.

You should feed filtered or bottled water.
Chlorine is harmful to all living things.
Chlorine is a pesticide.
Keep it fresh.
Change it every day.
You can buy cheap filters that fit on end of faucet.
Use very heavy wide bowl that is not easy to tip over.
