Our yorkshire terrier, Pebbles was put to sleep on Thursday. She had bladder cancer. It was the nicest thing to do. We were all extremely upset, but it has affected my mum the most. She always had pebbles around her and she's absolutely devastated. I caught her looking at other puppies on the internet yesterday and she started crying, saying that she felt guilty about looking so soon after.
I know that all she wants is another yorkie. I want to get her another one but having looked everywhere, they are asking for so much money. Does anyone know of anywhere or anyone in Brighton (or near Brighton) that are giving female yorkshire terrier puppies away to good homes? I'm always a little worried about looking for that sort of thing over the internet. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. Cheers...

I'm sorry about your Moms Pebbles. and I have been through this with our Cuddles. I too wanted to wait but I'm so glad I didn't. We now have 2 yorkies both of which we got for FREE. ! was from a rescue. He was beaten and had a broken pelvis which was repaired with a plate and screws. the other we got for a breeder who was going to keep this pup for her stock but she got pregnant at 6mo old. (accidental) she had to have a emergency c-section, the 3 pups were all still born. she was no longer able to have puppies and of no use to the breeder so she gave her to us. She wanted her to have a good home. I also know this breeder and another who after the age of 6 no longer breed that dag. female or male. So they look for good home and place them for free. There are quite a few rescues also i included a few but you can do your own search for Brighton

Hi
You may not get a puppy for free as most decent breeders pay a fortune to breed their dogs, the best chance you will have is rescue centres and rehoming centres, or the simple dog pound!
You can actually contact most and ask to be called when a specific breed comes in, however again its unlikely to be a puppy, more an adolesent or a adult dog.
Have you considered another breed? Maybe a cross yorkie? Take your mum with you to the local rehoming centre in your area and get her to have a look around, your both obviously dog lovers and Imsure you will find the right one!
We went looking for a rottweiller to be with our other rotty and came out with a puppy chiuahah! (cant spell but u know which one i mean!) lol!
She's brilliant and they both get on perfectly....

Sorry, but dream on. You will not find one that is being given away for free. Why would anyone give you a puppy when they can sell it to someone else for $800 or more?
You can get good deals on Yorkies from Yorkie rescue. Often times they go for $200-300. I haven't checked recently, but it's usually much less than your average puppymill pup. And you would be saving a life.

We have 2 female yorkies. One was from a breeder the other we got from the local cat and dog rescue centre.Your mum might not feel so bad if you get one from the cat and dog home as you will be giving an abandoned dog a loving home and they charge a very minimal amount. If you go on the internet and search for your nearest rspca centre or dog shelter i am sure you will have no problems, best of luck

yorkshire terriers are NOT up to a thousand pounds. You will have to ask the local vet if they know of any breeders who have puppies due..or there may be some adverts up. Look in the free papers.

really sorry bout your dog, just ignore these ignorant Americans and their useless comments, I just bought my wee yorkie for £300. I think your only hope is searchin through all the rescue centers, be prepared to travel and consider taking an older yorkie and u never know. I really wish you the best of luck

Not going to happen. If you find someone giving purebred Yorkies away they are going to be really messed up dogs (because they had a really messed up breeder). Your best bet is going to be to get a Yorkie mix from a shelter.

go to one of those animal shelters and you may get lucky, take your mum with you and who knows she may fall in love with another breed of dog

Sorry. I don't know any but you could always try to get another breed.
P.S. Sorry about your dog.
