http://au.geocities.com/leaswebsite/links.html under "Wildlife Assistance" - just click on them all, click on your country and state, have a browse, 'phone them and ask their advice.
Very very best of luck.

Take the bird to an avian vet or wildlife rescue as soon as possible - within an hour if you can. Cats have bacteria in their saliva that can be fatal to birds if left untreated. A wildlife rescue center is better, as they will help rehabilitate the cardinal so it can eventually return to the wild.
In most US states, keeping a wild bird is actually against the law, so that's another good reason to bring it to a rescue.
Until you can get it to the vet or rescue, or if you choose to illegally (and likely unsuccessfully) try to save it yourself, start off by providing it with some bread and a shallow dish of water. While it's working on that, go to a pet store, grocery store, or something like Target/Walmart and get a bird seed mix that contains a lot of sunflower seeds - they usually prefer sunflower, but it's best to give a variety in case your particular bird has a different preference.
Good luck!

you can try bird seed. Lawn and Garden or pet stores sell a variety of bird seed, they would have one that Cardinals eat. You can also try worms. A call to a local vet could tell you the most information. I hope the little birdie it okay.-- You may want to look into bringing it to a wildlife rehab center, if your town has one. That way he can be fixed up and released back into the "wild"

Try giving the cardinal sunflower seeds, but seriously see if they have a wild life rescue place where they can care for the bird.

If you go to any place that sells pet food, even wal-mart, the packages will show specifics on what kind of bird it is for. Cardinals<, I am sure, would like the larger seeds.

cardinals eat a variety of foods including insects, fruits, and berries, weed seeds and farm crops. They also eat caterpillars, grasshoppers and beetles. At feeding stations, cardinals prefer black oil sunflower seeds, millet, cracked corn, peanut butter, nuts, fruit and mealworms.

they eat bird seed. You can buy that at any pet surplus store. provide un-hulled black-oil sunflower seeds. They will also eat safflower, cracked corn, white proso millet, bread, nutmeats and peanut butter mixes. And be sure to provide watering stations and baths as for all birds.
They also eat insects like cucumber beetles, bill bugs. They eat a lot of fruit and seeds in the wild such as brambles, sumac, cherry, dogwood, grape, mulberry, blueberry, and tulip tree.
