Fat should be no more than 30 percent of your average total daily calories.

Edited to add: The first responder is correct. 1200 calories is very low. But it depends on your age and level of activity as well. If you are at all active then 1200 calories is much too low. You will be setting yourself up for some major problems. That doesn't even calculate to three meals. But generally a 2000 calorie diet is the norm. 30% of that would give you 65 grams of fat per day.

I know 1200 calories is low, but that's about how many I have to cut back to if I want to lose weight. FYI A lowfat diet is considered to be 20% calories from fat, so 240.

whoah 1200 calories is pretty low!

suggestions are a third or your calories from fat or less, so in the case of 1200 calories it would be 400 calories or less

I think 1200 calories is pretty extreme unless you are realy small, make sure you include milk and fruits in your diet otherwise your bones will rot
