maybe 2 weeks old I'm guessing in my back yard almost froze to death...brought it inside got it warm and it's doing much better. I'm feeding it baby formula...good idea or not? Also, how often should I try to feed it?

Thank you all for your helpful answers...I have no idea how the kitten got there. I did look to find others but this was the only one. If there were others the wouldnt have survived..this one was barely breathing and ice cold when I found it. I think it might make it. I'll add more details when resolve this in a week incase you are interested to know how it turns out :)

Here's the emergency feeding formula suggested by the website as well: http://www.kittencare.com/askKC_Feeding_Kittens.html
I hope you will be able to help this little one grow healthy and strong!
EDIT: Here is another helpful website to keep you from feeling overwhelmed: http://www.kittenrescue.org/handbook.htm

If the kitten is only about 2 weeks old I believe there is only 3 reasons why it was not with its mother (1) some cruel heartless excuse for a human has taken it away from its mother and left it to die. (2) The mother cat is dead (3) The kitten was sick and the mother cat took it away from her other babies and left it to die. If it is still alive, then you must be "mother" for al least 1 more week, feed it and make sure you rub it with a warm slightly damp clothe to help it go to the bathroom after each feeding. When the kitten is about 3 weeks old, you can start to give it some soft foods. I raised some kittens that a man threw out in front of my house and I fed them baby food meats. If you keep the kitten, pls have it spayed.

They have kitten milk replacement at most retail stores. Follow the instructions on the side of the container. The little guy will need to eat every two hours. After he/she has fed, take a warm, moist wash cloth and wash the kittens backside to stimulate the bowels.

Keep it warm feed it every two to three hours. KMR is a mother cat replacement milk which would be best. Also the kitten needs stimulation after it eats to help it go to the bath room. The mom cat waould lap the area and this stimulates the kittens to go. You will need to get a warm wet cloth and rub the rectum area each time after it eats.

actually you probably need to get it some milk replacement formula for cats you can buy it in the pet dept at walmart or petsmart you need to give it about 2oz every 2 hours depending on what it will take and while you are at walmart if you dont already have one the best thing to feed it with is a medicine dropper and check out in the backyard you may be surprised to find at least one or two more babies out there i would check because the mother may have abandoned a litter you can always ask a friend if they would assist you in caring for them if you find more...
