I had the same problem with my puppy when she was little....when she would potty in the house or get into something she shouldn't have she would get put into her kennel for about 10 minutes each time as punishment. When we were gone she would be in there as well. You might want to get a kennel and make it a little home for her. Put a pillow in there for her and some toys and keep the door open so they can go in there and check the place out. I would sometimes check mine sleeping in there when she wasn't in trouble. Now she is 6 months old and she is a good puppy. The eating part is normal though...dogs do that just to drive us crazy.....Just be patient!!!

For the first two problems, a crate is the best answer. I had a dog with separation anxiety. She would dump trash cans and eat the trash if I stepped out to the mailbox even. I figre if you leave your stuff on the floor and the dog chews it, that is your fault, but when she started pulling books and videos off the shelves to chew, I had had enough. This stopped entirely once I got her a crate. After a year or so I didn't have to use the crate anymore.

A crate is the single best thing you can get to help with housetraining.

As for not eating her food, be sure you feed a really good diet. Dog Chow will sustain life but is not the best. Iams (and the more expensive but essenetially similar food Eukanuba), Science Diet, Nutro, Authority are all better. If your dog really doesn't like those brands there is a VERY expensive brand called Innova EVO which my dogs think is candy. It has no fillers and is essentially meat and vegetables. It is 42% protein instead of 20% like most foods. I bet your dog would like that one. Boy mine do.

One of my collies is very skinny and really is only interested in eating much every other day. Most times if a dog doesn't want to eat it is not big deal. It's only a problem if it conintues. Try to figure out if there is a pattern to when your dog eats. Maybe keep a log and note times, what else was going on, what was offered.

As always, consulting a vet would be a good idea. My skinny collie had to be given a shot of some steroid in order to get him turned on to eating. I wish I could remember the name of the drug but I seem to recall it might have had "wind" in the name somehow.

It sounds like you definitely need to go buy a kennel for your dog. That will help with your destruction problem and your potty problem. As far as the eating I would not worry about that too much, but if you think that it is too much of a problem then bring the dog to your vet and talk with them about it. Hope this helps.

ur dog just needs to be trained. dogs r much happier when they have a routine to follow and it's much easier for u.

1st, i suggest kennel training. he can sleep in the kennel when u go to sleep and when u're out of the house. it may seem mean but once he gets used to it, he'll be very comfortable in it and it'll seem like home.

right before u put in the kennel for the night and right after u let him out of the kennel, take him outside to go potty. dogs won't piss where they sleep. if u see him start to incessantly sniff an area, take him outside.

try to feed him at around the same time everyday. older dogs only need to be fed about twice a day or even just once a day. about an hour or so, after feeding him, take him outside to use the potty.

it takes a lot patience to train a dog but it's totally worth it in the end. u might want to take a look at books about dog training and whatnot to help u out even more. it's what i did with my dog and i'm totally happy with him!

Have you tried putting him in a kennel when you're gone? It may seem mean at first, but just be sure to come home during the day and let him out. Pretty soon, they'll see they're kennell as home, and actually like it. That's what we had to do with mine.

I have no pets and have seen a lot of pet damage with the type of work I do. Maybe you are not a pet type person. Look for a new home for your pet. A lonely old person might love to have a buddy.
