My husband is one. He's a 32nd degree. Now, not saying there aren't any out there that prefer using it as a cult, that doesn't mean everyone in it is in a cult. My husband is Agnostic, believing that it is impossible to understand "It"/God, so he's not going to be worshipping anything. I'm sure there are some out there that use this as a means to worship, whatever they want to worship, but for the majority that I know personally, they're all Christian and help the community. They never try to get someone to join (actually that's against their rules to proselytize) and for the most part they hold functions to raise money for different charities.
As for getting information about it... the information is Everywhere. About 6 or 7 yrs ago we watched a program on it on A & E... and according to the Masons I know, it was an accurate account. Many of them weren't surprised as there were already books out about it. All of these people running around claiming it's so secretive obviously have not really tried to find the information. And those who left, well, maybe they did find some type of cult within the one they personally joined, but these things are different when compared to one another. The Hiram Key by Christopher Knight and Robert Lomas, is a good book for information on it.

Ok, its not a cult. Find more information before you start calling things a cult. Is being a part of a baptist church a cult? They are like a fraternity. They are proud of their history and they have meetings like any other meetings. They carry the bible, The Kings James version like every other christian person. It is not a cult. Don't just read something online and believe it right off without looking into it more.

Don't be a judgemental kettle, there, puddin'.
"Cult" is a label placed on organizations by those who disapprove. Christianity was a "cult" to the Romans. Scientology was a "cult" ten years ago and now is an "alternative religion."
The Freemasons are a 400-year-old fraternal order with some pretty pecular, but essentially beneficent, rules of conduct. It is, in large part, based on Christian principals, though it is implicitly non-sectarian. Freemasons (as the members of a select and exclusionary fraternal order) support each other and not those who are not members.
And that's about it, kiddo.
So if you want to attack a fraternity, go after Dubya's Skull and Bones ... there's an evil cult for you.

Cults includes the word devotion to any organization. I am not surprise if Freemasonry would be included in being called a cult but isn't also many major religions today acting more than just a cult? At least these honest men of the Freemasonry adheres to the purpose of serving men in all aspects of life not killing but was even victims of Catholics atrocitites and condmenation in the earlier centuries until now, how about the religions before and now?

I have been a Mason for 20 or more years and serve as Master of my lodge for three years. I have done extensive study into the rituals of the Lodge and have found several things that could be taken out of context.
The Masonic Order is a Fraternal org. that does many different things to assist people in need.
The Shrine Burns Institute in Cincinnati, The Knight Templar Eye Foundation and the efforts made for Special Olympics are just a few.

Look up the definition of a cult. you may belong to a cult and not no it. Are you religious in any way? well if you are technically your part of a cult.
You skip all the crap, and just focus on Jesus? How do you decide which is the crap and which is the good stuff? surely the bible is the bible period.

Freemasonry comes from the templar knights the same ones who started the holy crusades back in the day. of course they are cult and so is christianity and islam both are cults too bad ones at that as well. any religion that basis itself on fear is a cult in my opinion. or if they believe in bloodshed to win the world into there beliefs is also a cult

I'm not one, but they are the oldest (started with the building of the pyramids) existing cult in the world. Also, pretty powerful, so don't pissed them off. My ex married one and they have done nothing but cause me grief since.

So what's your point? My grandfather (RIP) was a Freemason.
Christians label EVERYONE a "cult" that they don't agree with.
