How do I set up my crockpot?

How do you set up a slow cooker? Do you just plug it in and your ready? Because, I kinda remember my mother adding water before she put the actually stoneware part in. In the part that actually heats up the stoneware. Is this right or am I remember wrong?

The instrustion book only had tips and recipies.

You put some water in the stoneware part itself, NOT under it. Just a little water is enough, and don't take the cover off, as that lets all the heat escape, and it will take forever to cook your meal

Depends on what your cooking, but rule No. 1 is NEVER put the heating part in water or add water there. The stoneware should be leak-proof. Add any liquids in the stoneware.

If I'm cooking meat, I've learned to very lightly oil the bottom and sides. Very lightly. Add just a little water so it covers the bottom. Helps with the steam. A soup or gravy mix adds a lot of flavor. Mix the soup by the box directions with half the water, cold, they say to use.

Google crockpot recipes. Don't overcook for best taste. I have a timer on my pot. Makes fabulous ribs.

You add water to what you're cooking but not anywhere on the actual pot. . . .If you needed to, I'm sure it would be obvious, but every one I've seen you just plug it in, and you're ready. Add the food, a little water, and let it cook away all day.

You put your stone ware in first. Then put a cup of water in the bottom. I like a cup of water for consistence.
And then what ever you are cooking comes next . Then plug in and set your program . Let it cook .

I think it was pretty obvious that they weren't asking if you put water in the food. They were asking if you put water in between the metal and the actual stoneware. You guys are pretty bright huh? And this was not a stupid question. I have wondered it myself too.

YOu shouldn't have to add anything; just plug it in and go
