I found a good way to build up a relationship with a guy, is to make sure you have loads of fun. And the more different it is and the more fun it is he's more likely to remember it. So do something totally out of the ordinary like paintballing or something active where ur guarenteed to have a fun time, be original about it and guarentee him something to remember :)

good luck xxx

I don't like to go to bars on a first date, too noisy, movies are like you mentioned self defeating also. Dinner is always kind of pretentious, but a cool idea might be a Tapas Bar. Tapas (assuming that you don't know, so forgive me) is spanish style food served in small sharing sized portions.... not Mexican spanish, SPAIN.... and they serve drinks as well, making dining interactive with the person you're with. If that seems like too much at first and a better second date option, Meeting up at a coffee shop can be a nice social setting as well. Choosing someplace to meet on a first date can be a little tricky sometimes, but try to include some of your common interests. Hope this helps and have fun!!! That's the most important part :-)

How about a nice, casual cafe?
Order coffees, or whatever, and have a nice talk; in a casual atmosphere. It can be a very good experience, and it's better for having a talk; much better than the dark space in the movies!!

if either of you have you own place to go. go there. soft music. lovly meal for 2. and wine. if acks like a true gent and repects you. he will not expect anything to happen on a first date. so you can both relax and enjoy one and others company. and get to no each other. aprt from that. a nice meal out in a nice resturant. something not to loud.

hope it works out.

How come you're worrying about where to go for your first date? You bf should be the one thinking. Normally, the places for first date chosen by bf will give you the strong indications on his character and motive.

go for a nice meal, in a cafe or bar, then you dont have the pressures of a formal restaurant, but its a relaxing atmosphere in which to talk and getto know one another
