It's called phlegm, if it's smelly go see a doctor right away. You could have a serious upper respiratory infection (URI).

Phlegm and mucus are basically the same thing...phlegm had added dead cells, bacteria and pollutants in it.

You should see a doctor, if the phlegm (stuff) is smelling.
It could be sinusitis.
