Go to Phuket or Samui island

Depends on your interests! Thailand has much to offer, something for everyone.
Bangkok - modern city, shopping and entertainment
Pattaya, Phuket - same as Bangkok, sleazy reputation ;-)
Phuket, Samui, Phi Phi - for sand, sea and beach
Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai - real country side settings, peace and quiet

Have fun ;-)

I love Thailand...I go every year. Thai people are so warm, friendly and "Heart-centered". I especially like elephants and Chaing Mai...The Elephant Nature park is amazing. I know Lek and support her park with my heart and pocketbook. To see and feed elephants in their natural enviornment is an unforgetable experience. My grandaughter, 10, played with baby elephants to her hearts delight. I hope to move to Chaing Mai in the near future. Shopping there is thrilling and living expenses are minimal. Can't think of a better place to be. I'm a world traveler and besides Egypt..Thailand is my favorite!! I was there last December and can't wait to go back!

Ignore the previous poster. I am an expat who lives in Bangkok and the political situation has had zero impact on everyday life here.

Best places to visit in Thailand are the island beaches: Koh Chang, Koh Samui, Hua Hin. Also, non-beach destinations: northern city of Chaing Mai and Buri Ram (Angkor Wat like Khymer-era ruins). Kanchanaburi is also quite nice.

It's up to your kind of travel.

If you like beach and nightlife travel I suggest Bkk, Samui, Phuket and Pattaya
If you like advanture and natural travel I suggest Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Loei, Tak...north of Thailand.

Every where is great
Beaches in the south - mountains in the north.
It depends on how long you are staying, what your budget is, what you like to do, and so many things.
Either ask again with more details, or get a Lonely Planet guide which will tell you everything you need to know
