I looked up the word Sale just because I use it just like you do and you are correct in your usage.
Sale is an economic term referring to the exchange of goods and services for money.
And I looked up Sell and they are NOT correct in the usage of the word.. It is more of a sell someone onto something. Meaning con someone in to believeing something. Or convence someone of something.
A verb relating to sales
Sell (professional wrestling)
In investing to exchange an asset for consideration
In theatre, to 'play to the crowd'

do you mean Sell it? Where in the world are you. What sort of bird is it? Be a little more specific and people will be able to offer accurate answers.
