Have you ever had balance testing such as a VNG or ENG? Or have you ever been tested for BPPV (benign paroxsymal positional vertigo)? If the crystals in your inner ear are displace, you need to have a BPPV treatment to put them back where they belong. Many of our Meniere's patients also suffer from BPPV. Also, has your doctor told you that sodium severly effects your balance and hearing when you have Meniere's? If you have been eating high sodium foods, it will make you very dizzy. Try moving around and drinking extra water to combat the sodium in your system. If you have not been checked for BPPV, definitely check into that-it will make you feel a lot better if you do have it and a provider can treat it for you. Either an ENT, neurologist or audiologist usually does the treatments.

Usually Menieres affects only one side (about 85% of the tiem) 14 weeks sounds like a long time for an adjustment to your operation...what does your Dr. say? You may still have some swelling and inflamation from the surgery is my guess. I have Menieres and had an endolymphatic shunt put in 22 years ago... I still had problems for several months before it subsided. The shunt quit working in 1993 and I had horrible attacks for a few years - then I noticed that I had lost over 50% hearing in the affected ear and I havent had an attack since. Yours must have been pretty bad to done the labryinthectomy - Good Luck to you....

I hate to sound negative in any way but you do want our opinion. Now im no doctor or anything but if i were a betting man i would definately say that your problem is diabetes. So before you go to the doctor and get brain scans and all of that stuff done you may want to get tested for diabetes but take my word for it, more than likely your test will show negative results. Dont let that fool you though because thats how diabetes works you have to have an excessive amount of sugar and salt intake in your body for it to show up as you being diabetic. I know this isnt what you wanted to hear but i really think this is whats wrong with you because what you just described is the same exact symptoms that i had when i found out i was diabetic, i went to a lot of doctors and no one could diagnose my problem not even duke medical center in durham nc one of the best in the country, but one day i went to a lady doctor and she told me that i was borderline diabetic and to stop drinking regular sodas and drink diet soda and decrease my salt intake and guess what? The dizzy spells went away after i followed her advice. So do your own diagnoses and stop consuming sugary drinks and salty foods like french fries for only 1 day and i guarantee you there will be a difference but remember absolutely no sugary drinks not even one.
