If one believes that god is the only answer to everything, how flabby would that make your brain, what would be the point of trying to achieve anything in this life if it is no more than a brief audition for a life that follows next...so for you believers what's the point?

Reply to Debra M:
Apart from the serving god part your reasons for getting up seem tom be the same as anyone else's, exactly how are you serving god by doing the same things any decent person would do regardless of whether they believe in a god or not... I don't understand that bit.

This life is a test! God emphasizes in the Qur'an that He has not created us for play and amusement and that if He had wanted to play he would have done that on His own. Why do you not then understand?
jfc21980, this is the point! I am a Muslim and BECAUSE sin is inevitable, then it makes sense that God should be forgiving and there should be no such thing as a person who has died for all humanity!
To avoid major sins, Muslims pray five times a day which makes them more God conscious and this less susceptible evils. Not only that, one whole month is prescribed for fasting, which is one of the pillars of Islam, and Muslims really get a very good training of how to control their desires in this month.

I'm atheist but i would have to say that if God is real the purpose of life would not be to sit and chill. If the bible is real than its very apparent God wants a very active following. Better question are if you really believe how would you dare drive a better car than anyone else or how can a church door be locked? I also find most of my druggie friends who sleep with multiple girls are devote Christians, which I find funny. It may have to do with the flabby brain thing that if things are all atoned for that you may not really see things as your responsibility. Hey its inevitable to sin right?

Wow, what a misunderstanding you have! That's like saying "well, Stephen Hawking already knows everything about science, so why should I bother looking at the stars anymore?"
lol The part you seemed to have forgotten is that we are supposed to enjoy THIS life with God. Yes, HE has all the answers, but I don't, and I can't wait to find out more today!

I am put here on this earth to try and be a good example to my fellow man. I work every day knowing that at the end of my life will be eternity in heaven where there are no issues and no sickness. My life has been a LOT better with God in it than with him not in it.

It does not mean that since Allah knows everything and what choices I will amek that I do not make them. They are still my choices. Work in Islam is in the rank of worship. I know that Allah is The Giver and the Bestower of blessings (money, food, etc) but I have to work to earn them. Believing is not about dependability; that I sleep in bed and say Allah will give me so and so.
Life is not an audition for the afterlife. They are two phases; we plough in life to harvest in the afterlife. Everyone harvests what they have planted.

You just do not understand. I have many reasons for getting up. Being a Christian does not mean one does not care for this life and the people in it. My reason is to serve God and my fellow man. Also to raise my sons, love my family and friends, and care for the elderly at my job..

Because we'd get nagged at by the church "leaders" ( ha ha) for staying in bed and not doing good works for the institution. "god" is not the answer or the ONLY answer. Doing the best you can with whatever you've been given is; that and trying not to harm self and others. Please leave the churches and religion out of it.

read the bible...you'd be surprised.
We are not performing an audition. We are in the flesh on earth. In heaven we will have glorified bodies. Our bodies in the present state couldnt handle God's presence.
Why do I get up in the morning? Do I have a choice?
Its either get up or lay there and die. Why do you get up?
