If you are willing and able to prepare your own food and not eat out you can eat well for a reasonable cost. If you are very poor and rely upon food banks for alot of your food then it is more difficult.

what do you mean by healthy food? If you go to an organic food store, then you'll notice the prices are like 10-20% higher than your average grocery store.

If you are going vegan, the prices are pretty high as well. TV dinners for vegans cost about $3-4 a box compared to $1-2 for non vegan. But its worth it.

In the early 1980's, doing mostly all cooking at home, I was able to feed myself nicely for $35 a week. Prices have doubled since then. I still try to eat healthy and spend over $100.00 each week on food.

Are you talking pre-packaged low-calorie meals......about $3.00/meal depending on what brand and where you buy them. I used to get an okay deal at Costco on packs of four Lean Cuisines.

If you mean in the Restaurants.........salads are usually ruffly the same price as other meals, except for expensive steaks etc.

In the Grocery store for homemade meals......shopping in the produce section is not hard on the wallet. Cooking at home does take more time but it is worth it to save money and for eating healthier.

Good Luck. Next time I would be more specific with your question. Ad information to the details section when you submit the question. You will get far better answers.

Don't mix the price of food (from markets) with the price of food+cooking+serving (ie, high-end restaurants).
