I'm thinking of buying one, but need a car I can drive in the winter. Don't want to crash it, I'm an excellent driver, but when there's ice, there's not much control.... in New Hampshire.

Put the BMW Z-3 sports car in the garage during winter it is rear wheel drive and really will be a hand full on icy roads. Even with snow tires extra fun sliding all around. Buy a 1997 Ford Taurus beater for winter

The BMW Z3 is a rear wheel drive car that is very sensitive on the gas pedal, but what you could do if you really want one is to buy one, then put about 100 lbs. of sandbags in the trunk to help traction on the rear wheels. Good luck with your decision and purchase.

BMWs, are very nicely balanced cars front and rear, with traction control taking care of your winter driving worry. If you can afford to look at a beemer, just get a full set of good winter tires and forget about trying to use all season tires all year [mediocre in summer and winter] Up here in Toronto, even further north than you, beemers are not a problem in the winter.

No, it is NOT front wheel drive. Put a good set of snow tires on it and will do fine in the winter.

Oh, and BTW, the Z3 does not have a German heritage. It's made in the USA.

I thought the BMW Z3 was front engine, rear wheel drive. In which case it will need to be carefuly driven in snow, like most rear wheel drive cars. But please note that in its home country of Germany, the BMW does manage to get about all right in snow!

I was under the impression that this model is rear wheel drive. I have seen them out in the winter in Burlington VT though not too often in snowstorms.
