Quite simply that smoking affects other people than the user, (i.e. second-hand smoke), while caffeine tends to affect only the user.
Therefore, The more people that complain, the bigger the issue becomes to the government officials to stump about. You know, votes and all.

Because most cigarettes contain more than tobacco, they have additives that make them even more addictive!
That combined with the fact that second hand smoke is dangerous. Caffeine is limited to the person who consumes it....however, I would be a raging maniac without either of them! lol, so contrary to Bloombergs stance in raising taxes on smokes, and outlawing it in ALL public buildings( new york city), I think it is much more scary to think about not being able to smoke! I know how I would feel, and I am sure there are many more smokers out there like me!

Smoking is so much worse. I use to smoke but now I don't. My gran died because of smoking. I'm so glad that the new uk laws are coming in that stops people smoking in public places like bars and nightclubs. I don't really see anything wrong with caffeine as long as you don't drink too much- I did once..I felt really rough once and I took 7 pro plus and drank 5 coffee and 2 red bulls-----it got to the point where I shaking...not a good idea!

For many reasons...Governments are the voices of the people therefore they must be honest and tell the truth about the negative unhealthy aspects of nicotine....After all no one then questions why they allow it to be sold at all..In the meantime tobacco is taxed to the max....Caffeine is not (yet)..You can be assured if tobacco products disappeared a visit to Starbucks or Tim Hortons would get more expensive... As long as we are all watching the smokers we also forget to notice the big Killeers and Polluters, Industry, Vehicles , Aircraft, Pesticides, Insecticides...Cigarette smoke impairs OUR vision, by design.

Because smoking causes heart disease and lung cancer. I have never heard of caffeine being lethal. It may cause birth defects and may give you the jitters. I'd rather be jacked on joe, than hooked up to an oxygen tank. I never heard anyone die from second hand coffee aroma!!!

Smoking is bad because one cigarette contains tar and nicotine. These things can damage your brain (seriously), give you heart attacks and mostly lung cancer. This is why smoking is BAD for you and you are certainly not allowed to smoke. It's up to you if you wanna smoke and get a disease and get sent to the hospital or medical center and have an operation........well that is if you smoke. Do you?
