3 lbs Lean Beef Chuck
2 tbsp Butter
2 cup Chopped Onion
1 Minced Garlic Clove
2 tbsp Paprika
2 1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Caraway Seeds
1/2 cup Coca-Cola
1/4 cup Red Wine(not cooking wine)
4 large Tomatoes, Peeled, Chopped
3 tbsp Flour

Procedures
1.Cut the beef into ½ inch cubes, discarding the bone and
fat.
2.In a dutch oven, melt the butter and add the meat, stiring
to brown on all sides.
3.Remove the meat cubes as they brown.
4.Saute the onion and garlic in the drippings until they are
soft.
5.Stir in the paprika, salt and caraway seeds; cook for 1
minute.
6.Stir in the meat, coca-cola, wine and tomatoes.
7.Cover tightly and simmer for about 1-½ hours or until the
meat is fork tender.
8.In a bowl, blend the flour with a little water to make a
smooth paste; stir into goulash.
9.Serve with hot noodles

Grandma didn't have a lot of ingredients to make goulash...She used elbow macaroni,
ground beef, onion and tomato soup or sauce and put it together. If she had a green pepper; she added that too. No big fancy recipe!

take 2 to 21/2 lbs of any diced beef in 1 inch subes dredge in flour salt and pepper coat the bottom of a dutch oven or a roasting pan small and fry until brown to this add 2 sliced in strips onions 5 bay leaves leaves whole...3 cloves garlic...and fry until onion a little tender...add 1 lg can of whole tomatoes crushed by hand 2 cups of beef broth or stock 1 cup red wine.....salt and pepper and 1/2 cup of hungarian paprika..(it has to be this paprika or the dish wont work...if you dont have add 2 tbsp regular paprika but the taste will be different....put in oven and cook (cover for last 1/2 hr) 1 to 11/2 hrs at 350 stiring every 20 minutes for the last 1/2 hr add 1 tbsp of cinnamon and 2 tbsp of sugar ...tast for salt and pepper
