girl ive seen this so many times and some people say, its cause the kid wont stop crying, ive got to hold him. i say let him scream, id rather he scream alive then be thrown through a windsheild. i never did this with mine, not on the shortest road. an accident can happen anywhere,no matter how fast or slow. and those kids on the laps will be the first to fly out the car, be mangled or have their heads busted. i know its harsh but its the truth, im with ya on this.

I have no idea what 'chavs' means... but of course never good to stereotype.
I've seen small children riding on passenger's knees a few times as well and it shocked me too. However, calling the police over it, I'm not too sure about that. What if one day you were trying to discipline your child and ended up spanking them. Perhaps it was the one and only time you've ever done it. But someone saw, called child services, and they took your child away due to abuse...
I admit that once I didnt put my 8 mth old in a car seat. We had called a taxi to come take us to the airport and it never showed, meaning we had to quickly find a neighbor to take us. Of course he didnt have a car seat! So, I put her in the Baby Bjorn, and put my seatbelt between myself and my daughter. I felt a bit guilty, but knew that my seat belt should hopefully save us if we had gotten into an accident. If someone had seen this and called the police, I would have been so horrified.
As someone who takes the bus (we dont own a car) I sometimes have to make choices that means my child is not always the best protected. They actually want you to take your child out of the stroller and keep them in your arms in my city. Yeah, take one ride on a bus and you'll see that isnt a great idea. If there was to be even a small accident, it could be very serious for a child. Do you think they make a place to put a car seat though? No. We have to go food shopping, and occasionally go to the Dr, etc etc... so it must be done.

i am offended that you would say they are probably chavs as i myself am a chav and we are not like that i would never sit in a car with a child on my knee as it was moving and all of my chav friends have said the same so plz don't stereotype us as bad people. i have seen many people driving with children on their lap and true i have been shocked before too but the police these days don't care so next time u see this take the license plate number and take them to the police

this is no worse than people who allow their young kids under 12 to ride in the front seat in just a seat belt. where there is also an airbag. i know someone who took her son out of his carseat at age 4 when his sister was born. he is still under the legal height andweight requirements. he will be at the right age next year but no where near the weight and height just as bad

Thats dangerous. I dont understand why people can be sooo stupid. Yesterday I saw a car seat on the passenger seat and I got angry. There are laws for a reason. but it is also common sense.

I see it every day - stand outside a school and you will be stunned at the amount of women that drive with their kids in the front seat, unstrapped.
They're the same women who block the roads and when you ask them to move, pointing out that an ambulance of fire engine can't get through, they swear at you. (not me - I'm too terrified to do that, coward that I am. But I have seen the headmaster get abused.)

Those "parents" need to be beaten till they bleed out of every single pore of their miserable bodies!!!!
And, I've seen worse. I once saw a 4 year old standing on the center console with her head sticking out of a sunroof while the car was traveling 50 mph (80 km/h) down the road!!!

Its so annoying isn't it to see people not strapping kids in the car. I saw a woman yesterday, funny enough, travelling with 2 kids kneeling up in the back of the car and she was texting or looking at her mobile. Silly woman!!!

my mum was involved in a crash (women behind was tending to her two month old baby in the seat next to her - illegal anyway) and then the woman quickly grabbed hold of the child (who had been vaulted oyut of the car window due to the impact force) and put him in the seat behind her in a child safety thingy before resuming her "slumped" position at the steering wheel.
B*tch got fined in court and served time
