Nonsense. If that is their acepted way of life, let them continue to do what is correct for them. Perhaps if our women were more modest, our society would be better. However by our standards, women should not be treated as a property as their rights are respected. This has gone a little too far in some aspects. The outcome has been the great number of unwed mothers which do not want to loose their alimony or Social Security if they marry again and the fear of man to be tied by a mariage which can result in a great economic problem for the rest kof his life.

Amazing! A bigot who can spell "veils" and "moustaches". That has got to be worth some extra points on Yahoo! Questions. Just for the novelty.

Oh nooo. I had some muslim friends many years ago and their wives all wore veils in public but not in the home. I was invited to a party once or twice and went to someone's home. They made a fantasic feast for everyone and there was some segregation but the women were in the home with their own party and there was some mixing in the hall between rooms (under supervision of sorts). There were no mousaches. And I got to say. I understand fully why they want to wear them, not in all cases, but many were very very blessed with good looks. My personal response was to look away rather than glare. Some have an untouched and haunting innocence and it is very visible in their faces. God bless them for their modesty! Phew!

I am not that familiar with Islam but I believe that women are not allowed to remove hair on their face or body as it interferes with the image in which they were created by Allah.
Personally I think that they are very lucky when they are young and beautiful to be able to cover up their faces and bodies and not be offensively stared at by every yobbo around. I wouldn't have minded having a burka when I was in my 20s.
As to be treated like 2nd class citizens, I don't think this is the case at all. If you grew up all your life wearing a burka in public going out without it must seem like for us walking around town in our underwear - in fact even worse since we are accustomed to be on the beach in bikinis etc. It is ridiculous to expect people from a so different culture to our own to dress like us. Let them alone and concentrate on your own wardrobes all you people. I bet they could use some updating.

If I had a terrible facial disfigurement, I'd consider wearing a veil. Most women wear it to show they respect their god and their culture. It would be interesting to know if veiled women suffer less often from body dysmorphic conditions (anorexia, bulimia, etc.). It may be a healthier alternative than our own culture's size zero role models.

No its to hide their unbearable beauty.
Apparently they are so beautiful that no man is able to resist them if they can see their faces, and you'd be overcome with lust and have to rape them.
With us lesser mortal women - ie non Muslims, this doesn't matter, presumably we are so ugly that men don't have this unbearable urge.
I think they need to get over themselves.
