Herbal and vitamin regimens do not work in the capacity that Lithium does. There are other medicines, but they also can put weight on you. Best bet is to keep drinking more water and exercising.(You need more water on Lithium. It is a salt) I was on Lithium for years so I know where you are coming from. I was told the more water, the better. Exercises also kept the mood swings in check better than just the Lithium and it helps burn the extra pounds. A win/win situation.

Discuss it with your doctor. The answer is yes, there are a number of alternate medications but lithium is an excellent one for many people.

Be sure it is the lithium that is causing the problem. Sometimes it is painstaking to find a medication that will function as well as the one you are currently using.

Dont try to medicate yourself with herbals or vitamins. Lithium is
used for serious disorders, and you dont want to stop taking it and try something on your own. That approach can be disastrous.
