It was my first year at a seasonal job. Yesterday was a co-worker and I last day until next Spring. The full timers (including boss) told us they were going to buy us pizza for lunch the day before. Well, all morning everyone seemed very cold to us. At lunch they all got food for themselves but nothing for us. They didnt even let us know they were ordering. After putting 2+2 together and some ignorant hints from the boss, I figured their problem was that we didnt bring in a cake or donuts for them. I feel very bad about it , and I certainly would have if I had known this was tradition there. I couldnt even sleep last night feeling bad about it. Yet I think it was kinda ingnorant and petty of them to order and eat without including us . They knew we didnt even bring lunch (no lunch box). I am dreading next season . I loved the job until yesterday. Was this so bad us not bringing something, or were they being petty?

It all sounds petty to me hey. Its not going to mean anything to you this time next year so why worry over it now? Now you know the drill about bringing in food, so next season, turn up with all the cakes & sweets you can along with your smile & I am sure you will find that it will be fine. After all, it is their problem hey! They have to live like that, dont lower yourself to that level babe.

They are being so stupid!! If they never told you that you were required to bring in some food as well, how would you know? Are you a mind reader? I hope you explained to them that you weren't aware of the tradition and didn't mean to cause any hard feelings. They are being WAY petty. And how rude of them not to let you have any lunch with them. People are so stupid sometimes.

They were being petty (especially the boss, that's very unprofessional), you had no way of knowing. If you go back there take donuts on your first day back, but only if you want to, you certainly don't owe it to those petty clowns! But if they are so childish and petty then making peace on the first day might make it a more pleasant work place next season.

It's the first I've ever heard of some tradition like this. It's them saying goodbye to you, for them to get YOU a going away something. To say they will, then take that back because you let them down on some hidden tradition is very petty. What a shame it had to end like that.

Don't worry yourself. They have to learn to give without recieving. If they were only about to buy you lunch because they were figuring you would buy them something in return, then they aren't worth your time. If it is your last day, then they shouldn't expect something like that.

The whole point of giving gifts isn't to recieve them. After all, you don't go out and buy other people presents just because it's your birthday.

I think they treated you pretty shabby. If you were suppose to take in donuts they should have let you know. They were rude and spiteful for not buying you the pizza when they had said they would.

Definitely petty!! We do the best we can and if others have certain EXPECTATIONS of what we are suppose to do, I'd say that is their problem. Are you being petty about it too? Why are you losing sleep o'er it?

So What, you missed a meal, and they missed some dough-nuts. Forget it. Look forward to working next season. Stop calling people names, you make yourself sound ignorant and vindictive.
BTW look up the word ignorant, you apparently don't know what it means.
