Ever heard of Rene Descartes? He was a famous mathematician, the one responsible for the Cartesian plane (x axis, y axis). Descartes was also a famous philosopher who claimed that the only thing that a person can be sure of in a world where everything can be doubted is himself. "Cogito ergo sum", I think therefore I am.
But Descartes also said that once you acknowledge the fact that you exist, you will realize that you are imperfect, that you have limitations. Through negation, you'll realize that if you're imperfect, then somewhere out there is perfect; the same way you know that if there is darkness, there is light; if there is wrong then there is right. You'll realize that there is a perfect and greater something or someone. The consciousness that something greater is innate within everyone.
I think this explanation by Descartes is pretty easy to follow and can explain a lot why people believe in a supreme being or beings. It may be Yahweh or God or Allah or other gods, but what really matters is that there is something greater, someone perfect. I think that some people just don't realize it or choose not to acknowledge it because their reason cannot explain why there is a God. But of course, we are too limited to fully grasp and comprehend the God since He is beyond us. Reason can only bring you to a certain point, it's up to you to believe or not.

First, if you don't believe in "religion & spirituality", why are you on this site? It's not for anti-religion. It's for people of different faiths to talk and try to work out differences. You surprise me, because most people who don't believe in god constantly brag about how there actions focus on making this world a better place. You, however, seem to want to insult others and simply just stur up problems. Maybe we of different faith are fighting the wrong people. I'm not sure that people like you, atheist, agnogist and satan worshippers are'nt the real enemy of "our" god.

Not really. It's really easy to believe in God/s even if you are the smartest guy in the world since there are too many mysteries in the world not to mention the universe!

there is but one God and Christ Jesus whom He sent for the atonement of our sins. So that once again we can commune with God the Father through Him. Because everyone does what is right in his/her own eyes. Therefore chaos would rule.
