I have known this wonderful man for over 5 years now and our relationship has been on one based on friendship. Untill now, our relationship has come to the point of being more than just a friendship. He loves me but im not sure if i love him. He's so wonderful to me and i care about him. When he cries and i see tears in his eyes, the tears in my eyes are an automatic response to his. When he laughs, i laugh. When he is cold, i would sacrifice my warmth to give him my jacket. Whenever he is down, i encourage him to not give up but keep climbing the mountain. And all these things, he does for me too. The reason i can't figure out if i love him or not is because my heart is confused after having to cut off contact with someone i previously loved because of strong reasons. Sometime i feel like i would love to take care of him for the rest of my life and i sometimes imagine what living with him would be like. We trust each other and we are honest with each other. Am i in true and pure love?

Would you be willing to care for this man if he were tragically injured and not able to care for himself? Would you be able to wake up tomorrow without extreme sadness..... knowing that he was gone forever from this Earth? Can you imagine your life without seeing, hearing, or feeling him ever again? If you can answer these q's in your heart and mind...then you will know what to do.

Depends on the previous love..to me genuine and true love is when BOTH parties fully love each other, so your feelings for him may be legit, but I'm making a pretty good guess that whoever it was before you is being the monkey on your back in making a decision. Are you still talkin to the ex, was it a recent break-up? (god forbid) Are you still WITH the previous love? Any yes' to those questions and I wouldn't push anything until you exit that part OUT of your life....and in that case i'd say no. Other than that, if be it no obstacle in the way, TRUE LOVE AWAY! (that was corny as hell but it just fit.)

I personally don't know what pure love is, you definitley sound like you care for him though. If you say you would love to take care of him for the rest of your life and you imagine it sometimes, you definitley have really strong feelings, love is an action, not a word and you are describing actions you want to do. You have trust and honesty and five years of knowing who he is. If you can think of him and automatically smile, get excited of the thought of seeing him, and picture yourselves together, i think you might love him. Being "in love" is a bit different than loving someone, that comes next. You know your feelings, act on them.

Perhaps what you thought of as love before was not, love is not always about thrills and spills. This sounds like a deep and respectful relationship that will last a lifetime, what more do you want out of a partner?

If you thoroughly enjoy everything about this man, and being with him makes you the happiest. I think its fair to say you are truly in love.
On the other hand it sounds like you might be more of a caretaker, you arent happy you are content. If your content and you dont want more, than be satisfied with what you have.

Look in your heart and u will know what you feel for him. try to picture your life without him? Would you miss him terribly? sometimes love is such an easy feeling that we almost miss it. don't wait until he is gone to realize what you have.
