Renault service intervals are every 18,000 miles, or two years, whichever is the soonest.
If the car is a 54 reg, it must be close to two years old.

You should have all this information in the Service Book that accompanies your Owner's Handbook.

Whatever the handbook says, remember that cars sold in the UK frequently have different (longer) service intervals than identical cars sold in Europe.

This is because in the UK around 75% of all new cars are either bought or subsidised by companies, and the fleet managers are looking for cheap running costs. Therefore, if he can see that a particular vehicle will require only one service during his company's ownership, that is of great interest to him. On the continent there is no such high level of company car schemes.

However, it is generally accepted that such lengthy intervals are not in the interests of safety, nor of engine longevity.

Most experts recommend much more frequent oil changes - as often as every 5,000 miles, in some cases.

If the belt snaps it can, at worst, wreck the engine completely. At best it will damage a valve or two necessitating head removal and repair. Your belt needs replacing due to age, rather than miles as it should easily last about half again the miles it has covered.

Check the trip computer.
It will tell you how many miles to the next service.

you are lucky that you have not needed a service yet. renault cars are notorious rubbish and they break very easily.

If you have not needed a service then I can only assume that you are a granny.
