Are you asking what will happen if you do not have a hernia operation done to yourself?

If you have a hernia and you do not have it repaired - the hernia will remain.

The effects of a hernia depend a lot on where it is and how big it is.

If it is a small hernia and not troubling you, then it may not do anything much and most likely will be a minor nuisance - or it may cause pain.

If it is a big hernia, it might just do nothing and sit there or there can be bad complications including bowel obstruction. There is a higher risk of complications if your hernia is a big one.

I have put links to the wiki pages for the commonest types of hernia and one to the page on bowel obstruction.

I've been told you could lie upside down on the stairs every day to keep your insides inside and heal the hole yourself. But you could also get some mesh to cover the hole from your doctor. It could always hurt with time, you know. Careful not to strain too hard down there. Good luck, mate.
