Why wasn't Lot condemned for giving his daughters to be abused by the men of
Sodom (Genesis 19:8)? The Bible actually calls him righteous (2 Peter 2:7)!

Personally I would never let one abuse my daughters. So to me that is an unforgivable crime. A parent is suppose to look out for their children no matter who it is.

The culture of the day expected guests to be protected first no matter what. If he had let his guests be taken out of his house and harmed he would suffer the worst humiliation possible. He would offer himself up to the town rather than turn out a guest to a crowd like that. Under those circumstances he was righteous and honorable.

Because the men in his home were not only his guest but angels. He'd rather sacrifice his daughters than these honored guest.
Sin is always forgiven by God, people who are considered "righteous" in the Bible weren't without sin, they believed in God and that is counted as "righteousness"

As a practising christian, it seems to me that the reason would be that he made the ultimate sacrifice. But friend, if you are only interested in challenging the Bible, it seems to me that reading things only literally will not help. Lets just assume that your people and ours will have a lot of differences of opinion and just lets leave it at that. Theres so many things that we have in common, both being Abrahamic religions, so lets talk about whats common and not whats different. THATS the real way forward for understanding and trust. Peace be with you my Moslem friend.

The custom of that time was, If someone invited you into their abode for hospitality; while you were under their roof or care they would protect you with their life. This costom is still practised in some of the middle eastern tribes to this very day.

Do you know that the Bible was written 380 after Jesus left Earth "Isaa the son of Marry-Maryam the daughter of Zakri - Zackariah"; it was made up and written by a man who was an alcoholic & a womenizer, and he kept having illusions on that someone was talking to him.
He based his writing on the requests made by the Roman Empire
on what should the book allows and on what it says.

Righteous people are not perfect people, only forgiven people. People who know Christ are not better than others, just better off.
