[W]hen I was growing up during the 50s and 60s we didn't have all the tens of thousands of food choices available today. Back then a hamburger or a chicken sandwich was considered a legitimate way to acquire a serving of high-grade protein and grains, add a tomato and some lettuce, maybe a little onion, pour an 8 oz. glass of milk and you have what would be considered a pretty healthy meal, provided you use proper serving sizes. So from my point of view McDonald's serves food that is no better or even different than that which I could acquire at the local store or pretty much any other restaurant

What have you been smoking? The facts are out there for anyone to check-McDonalds food is high in fat and sodium and the portions are too large. That doesn't make other fast food joints any better but anyone with any sense knows not to eat it every day.
Also skinny does not equal healthy. Your friend should have a lipid panel done at the doctor.

McDonald's and fast food in general is awful for you! It is packed with salt, sugar, carbs fat, and tons of preservatives! Remember that most of it is not fresh, it is frozen, pre-packaged and pre-prepared then shipped to the restaurant. I have looked at the nutrition facts at the restaurant I work at and I was really shocked how disgustingly high in calories it all is.
Just because someone is skinny, does not mean that they are healthy. They may just have a fast metabolism or work it off. They might have really high cholesterol though.
Check out the movie "Super-Size Me" and look at the nutrition sheets in some fast food restaurants.

Yup. Their food is mostly fried and loaded with heart-stopping cholesterol. It's not just McDonald, most fast food joints are bad for your health. Fast food is okay once in a while, but not on a daily basis -- probably not even on a weekly basis.

They have made it more healthy by using a better oil & the rolls have less sugar& the meat might have less fat but it is still no good in the sense that people are still over eating by having a burger & chips as well. that has stretched peoples stomachs by over eating & then they have to eat more food to feel full
its mostly OVER EATING & drinking that makes one fat

I like to get the two cheese burger meal and switch the fries with the fruit and yogurt. very good. I think it's about 800 calories. not bad for a full meal. That's if you have water. soda's pretty bad for you.

It's all in the way they process their burgers. If they were flame grilled as opposed to fried they would be better, as there would be less fat. Also, I have no idea why they don't have whole wheat buns available for them.
