My dog came back from playing in the backyard, then suddenly threw up all this mucosy stuff. She had dirt in her mouth and on her nose. After she threw up she became depressed. She wont play, and just wants to sleep. My mom is so upset. Wil we need to take her to the vet? do dogs do this normally? I hope my dog is okay!

If she isn't much better by morning, she needs to see the vet as soon as you can..

Hi. I wonder if this just happened tonight?? Is your dog drinking water excessively ? You also need to check your dogs mouth to make sure the gums are nice and pink, and the mouth. There are so many possibilities and the info you have provided is pretty abstract. As long as your baby hasn't gotten into anything like rat poisoning (a bad neighbor?) you will probably be OK. You know your dog the best though and it's worth every cent to take your pet to an emergency vet if you think things aren't right, and YOU will know! Hope that helps :)

u know thatsweird cuz my dog did something like that not more than a week ago and she was all hyper one minute and then she sits down in the back yard and starts making faces and throws up infront of me. the only reason i believe so had her tail between her legs was because she was embarrassed. and maybe felt alittle sick. normally when dogs don't feel well they eat grass my mom told me its to get their digestive system going better orsomething along those lines... is ur dog eatting grass?
i don't know too much about dogs but ours is probly 9 now so i think i have learned a few things. if ur dog is still acting sick by morning depending on the time it is at ur house maybe u should bring him to the vet if u are that worried. in not let him out in the yard and eat some grass. they know what to do.

good luck

I would not get too worried about them eating dirt, the only thing I would be aware of is if the area had been treated for weeds or fertilized recently... But I think that would go with out saying...

I feel that the dirt eating is a symptomn (sp?) of the dog looking for minerals or the like in the dirt that he may not be getting in his diet, or maybe worms or grubs. This is one of the oddities that that my family attributed it to when we were younger and growing up on the farm. Not only eating dirt, but dogs laping up fresh cow poop too.. I am sure other rural folks have witnessed this too. But this also was when vet visits for the family dog was unheard of, so it may be a mineral defficientcy, not that this was either proven or disproven right or wrong..

You sound like an extremely sensible youthful guy. many human beings do not know grapes could be deadly to your dogs. keep a particular eye on him and be slightly greater careful ingesting grapes around him next time. He could desire to be ok no count if it quite is in simple terms one. yet he's a small breed dogs so keep checking on him for here couple of hours. different consumer-friendly meals that are poison for pooches are: Macadamia nuts, espresso, garlic, onion, chocolate, raisins, beer, artificially sweeten gum, sorbitol. The smaller the breed, the better the risk. stable luck.

It sounds like it could be Parvo, so keep an eye on her and make sure she stays hydrated. If she doesn't show improvement and you can't get her to a vet, give her lots of pedialite if she's not drinking on her own.
Then again, she may have just ate too much grass. (a vet visit is always your best bet)

I Would Take Her To The Vet.

I think she will be fine... She probably just ate something bad and has an upset stomach. Dogs get sick like we do so she probably needs time to get better. If you want to be on the safe side, take her to a vet to be checked out.

throwing up and then acting depressed and without energy means there is something wrong. DEFINITELY take your dog to the vet first thing tomorrow, or if your vet is closed on weekends take her to an emergency animal clinic. for tonight just make sure she has water available and keep an eye on her. good luck

Is there anything in your yard that could make her ill?Like rat poisin or anti-freeze? If she is just sleeping ,let the sleeping dog lie,,prob has an upset stomach. If she is lethargic acting,,go to the vet or continues to vomit or shakes or has blood in her feces or urine or anything weird like that.Do you know how to take a dogs temp? That is the easiest way to detect an illness.

So many opinions, if the dog is acting lethargic and its been a while get her to the vet ER now.

Poisoning is very dangerous and deadly. I would rather be overcautious than regretful
