I work really really early and was wondering if their are any other alternatives for getting me awake

I work from 1am to 5am, go to school from 8am to 8pm and study when I can. It's hard to stay wake.

Over the counter medications (including caffiene pills) are safe AS LONG AS you follow the dosing information included with them. However, as waking up is your issue, you might try ways of adjusting your wake/sleep cycle. A good first step is taking melatonin about an hour before you go to bed. (I find 6mg is the dose that works for me. You may need to experiment.) If you can get enough quality sleep in before your alarm goes off, that eliminates the need for the caffiene jolt. If you search the web for "sleep disorders", you can find a wealth of information. I like the WebMD site, as all the information there is checked by doctors for accuracy. Try following the suggestions for "good sleep hygiene" and see if that's what the real problem might be.

Best of luck!

Caffeine pills are quite ok if taken in moderation. Like 1 or two pills a day. The problem is, your body gets accustomed to them, and soon you'll need more to get the effect you want.

Honey, if you're taking them to keep yourself awake for more hours than your body can take, its gonna catch up to ya with adverse effects. Try looking for an alternative with the work study routine, or look for something Ayurvedic or Homeopathic as a substitute if you really have to take something.

GoodLuck.

In the long term, it is very bad because you're talking about sleep deprivation. You NEED to make sure to get enough sleep, even if it means going to bed at 7 pm (I don't know how early you work). It sucks, but you need to be ready for work, and you NEED your sleep. If you get enough sleep, you shouldn't need a lot of caffeine... maybe just a coffee drink to get you jump-started. Good luck, please try to adjust your sleep schedule. Tell your family and friends that you will be asleep at a certain time, and ask them to PLEASE not call you during that time. Some people who have unusual work schedules find that people refuse to respect their sleep hours - turn off your phone if you have to, and install dark curtains in your bedroom to block out the light.
