This is the worst it's ever been. Worse than the mid-eighties. Valuev, Maskeav, and worst of all, Klitschko - even more worthless than his brother - are the WBA, WBC and IBF champ
Those are the only legit champs, but the irony is that the best of the bunch is probably Sergei Lyakhovich, the WBO 'champ'.

What do you guys think?

Brent K - well said. Boxing better wake up quickly. I hear more sports fans talking about guys like Shamrock and Ortiz than about guys like Mayweather and Klitschko.

It's been sorry for the last 7 or so years. As you've said when former Middleweight champions think that they can make the Heavyweight division their own personal hunting ground for more championship belts that sums it up. Boxing will re establish itself as a mainstream sport when the next great Heavyweight finally arrives. That may be unfair to crop of great talent boxing has in the lighter weight divisions, but the casual fan of sport only cares about the Heavyweights.

at the moment i'd say sergei is probably the better champ right now. he certainly seems to be more skilled than the others. maskaev's best fights are behind him, and klitschko is just surviving because of the lack of good competition. the brock fight should shed some light on the division. talent-wise, the division is probably as bad as it gets. however, i think there will be many good fights to come simply because the champs and top contenders aren't that much better than the other. i hope brewster is able to heal well and fight again, he's got some talent and i'd certainly watch a rematch with sergei. sam peter is a sad case, i think he could be the best by far, but his stubborness and inability to train and take instruction well is gonna make him come up short in many fights. i think james toney is probably the best package as far as skills and being fun to watch, and thats awful sad considering we're talking about heavyweights. i'm gonna be watching valuev's next few fights very closely, i can't wait til someone knocks that giant out. a boxer that has such little skill as that dude has should never be a champ, even by today's standards. thanks for letting me rant for awhile, great question!

I stopped watching boxing 30 years ago because it went to crap back then, I'm glad to finally see some decent fighters for a change. I've missed being able to see some real fighters for so long I'm ecstatic at how good they are now days.

The four heavyweights have knocked out over 150 bums alone, they are taking out the garbage as fast as they can go.

Russia has been concentrating on the Olympics and are about to send their best into the boxing world, there are bigger and better than you have seen on the way now.

We are about to see some of the best fighters in the history of the sport step into the ring, the crap that has been in it for the last 30 years won't ever be back, thank God.

Get ready because there are real men in boxing now and it is about to get very interesting, it wouldn't surprise me if we start seeing people getting killed in the ring now.

Like the Russians say "Not one step back"

It has been sorry for a long time now, every since the seventies. The guys that hold the heavyweight belts now are giving the sorry American boxers hell because they learned from all the sorry boxers from earlier times like Tyson and such. Boxing has definitely changed, you have to be some kind of tough now as well as very skilled. The best boxers in the history of the sport are there now and taking out anything that opposes them.

What's up Bradley, I am waiting on your answer from my e-mail.

I have said this before, it is a case of survival of the fittest. Boxing must do what it takes to survive. Maybe a great Hwy wt will come along and save boxing.

The real irony is that the champs are Europeans, especially Russians.
Maybe the Russian Mafia will replace Don King.

Boxing is starting to get good again, it's fun watching these guys beat the past boxers like schoolgirls.

American boxers aren't any competition for them, it's about time we get to see some real fighters in the ring I was getting tired of seeing the crap that was boxing.

the heavyweight division is very sorry.

the only boxer that brings excitement to the division is James Toney.

It's amazing to see a guy who you thought was totally out for the count back in the 90's make a huge comeback as James Toney did. From going to middleweight > super > light heavy > cruiser > heavyweight.

Although he's fat, old, and way out of shape, it's amazing to see a former middleweight hang in there with the big boys and actually win some fights. I would like to see him win his re-match with sam peter and win a fight with Maskeav.

I think the problem is that it's to many titles, Unite all the titles and get one real champion. That will solve must of the problem. Every sport needs a champion not four or five ho refuses to fight each other.

I am not a "guy" but I think the names of the heavyweights tell us exactly how sorry the division actually is. I am acttually looking forward to a Tyson comeback. I keep thinking--- George did it, maybe old Iron Mike can too!!!
