True Christians do not like war or violence only the ones who have become politicized.
They operate hospitals and clinics to administer health care instead of talking about it.
They send food and clothing to other parts of the world where needed.
They operate private schools in addition to paying taxes for public schools and the kids who go to those schools usually rank above the national average.
AND they don't think you are bad because you don't believe in God, they still care about the person within regardless of belief.
I fear you have been exposed to too many politically energized Christians that can really be irritating.
Sorry bout dat.............

Athiests, Christians, Muslims, Jews, Bhuddists, and all good human beings believe in and hope for all those things for mankind. Being a member of one of those categories does not make a person bad or good.
I said, all GOOD human beings believe in those things. Sadly, there are BAD human beings in this world, including Athiests, Christians, Muslims, Jews, Bhuddists, and every other world-view. Those bad human beings want just the opposite.
Sadly too, some people are in that gray area in between. Our current President, for example, claims to be a good Christian, as do the leaders of those fundamentalist groups that are lobbying Congress so hard for laws that reflect their own religious beliefs. These are not BAD people, BUT...
If they were for Peace, they would not endorse torture, secret prisons, suspension of habeas corpus, international aggression, etc. I keep wondering, Christian Mr. Bush, WWJT - Who Would Jesus Torture?
If they believed in equality of the sexes, including those of all sexual orientations, they would not support, let alone introduce laws which persecute and discriminate against gay people.
If they believed in healthcare for everyone, they would let people buy medicines where they could get them cheaper, such as in Canada or overseas. They would not allow pharmaceutical, medical, and insurance companies to reap rapacious profits while so many Americans and other humans die because they cannot afford their products and services.
Al Queda and the Taliban perverted Islam to justify their own selfish goals of power, hatred and greed. The extreme religious right in America, and this Administration that is playing them like a violin, have perverted Christianity for the same reasons, though thankfully not (yet) to the extent of the Taliban, or the medieval Church that murdered those who opposed it.

ok.. and... just when did you do this survey? How many people did you ask these questions to? and where did you find them? what randomization did you use to ensure that you surveyed a representative population of the Athiests?...
now... what you have stated is probably at least generally true for most people on this earth except the one directly dealing with sexual orientation and belief in God and Prayer...
I have NEVER met a mother that did not want her children to be healthy and happy.
I have NEVER met a mother that wanted WAR.
I have met very few mothers that did not want their children to have a great education.
the only people that I have met that did not want some form of equality in the workplace were those in charge or those who hated some other group for some reason.
And, most of the time I don't even know if someone is Athiest or Christian unless I hear them talk of Jesus.

Rethink your "rational thought".........Do you really think religon is superstition? What is there to live for if there is nothing after death? We live for today and our childrens tomorrow, yes, but the history of the world proves we are from a higher being. Look at the statistics of how many planets can support life and rethink you beliefs...........It is not fantacy, but reality ......we in our infacy can not understand.......is it not possible God is in fact from one of these distant places that we call Heven......and is it not possible the books we call the bible, koran, tora and such are guides written by man in a quest to understand our higher being?....Look at the pyramids around the world......research the Bosnian Pyramids just discovered.....larger than the Egyptian ones......don't be so closed minded...... your views are not evil, but dead wrong............

I am sorry that you feel that you are bad,....I am a believer and I do not think that you are bad,....you are on your agenda and not God's that's all......and it is your free choice as a citizen of this Universe...we as a part of the bride of Christ wish only that you would join the family in eternal peace and bliss,...nothing more nothing less. There is more out there than just rational,...that is putting the universe in a box my friend and to do that is impossible,
I wish you would reconsider and realize that every sin we have ever made must be paid for....and we can't do that ourselves we as humans have made too many and the balance of off kilter that is where Jesus came into the picture
to pay for our sins with his blood shed for all us that will recieve his gift.
But i will leave you to your beliefs. much love

Did you know that most Christians believe in...?
Peace for all mankind
Sanctity of life and marriage
Healthcare for everyone
Equal opportunity in the workplace
A real world economy.
In other words most of us believe in YOU. We want you to thrive, the planet to thrive and for everyone to live in peace.
I guess that makes us BAD, cuz we do believe in God.
I guess that makes us BAD cuz we don't want WAR.
I guess that makes us BAD cuz we do want to be able pray in our schools. It should be up to the individual not the government to make that decision.
I guess that makes us BAD cuz we want our children to have a great education.
I guess that makes us BAD cuz we want rational thought to override arrogance

Can't you see what has happened since the courts have disallowed prayer in schools? Do you read the paper or watch the news? We need daily prayer back in our public schools more than ever! We have kicked God out of our lives... then we have the audacity to call on him when tragedy strikes! God is not a yo-yo!

You are 3450% right!!! I am also an atheist . I live in greece a deeply religius country. Everytime i tell someone that i am an atheist they will act as we don't live in a democratic country that religion ''shouldn't matter'' .They believe that atheism is just another ''trend'' and that I state that I am atheist to be ''cool''. I am happy that i had the oportunity to see the truth at suck a small age (just 15) and not live a life destroyed and opressed by religius beliefs. CHRISTIANITY IS THE ONLY RELIGION IN THE WORLD THAT SAYS IT DOESN'T IMPOSE ITS DOCTRINE ON US. IS THAT TRUE? THE CHRISTIANISM HAS INFILTRATED EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING....EVEN OUR GOVERMENT AND DEMOCRACY....ITS A REAL PITY THAT 5.9 BILLION PEOPLE BELIEVE IN SOME GOD OF ANYTYPE....ITS TIME TO FINALY WAKE UP....I WOULD REALLLY LIKE TO CONTACT YOU PERSONALLY MY E-MAIL IS cyberhacker665@yahoo.com .

One other thing:
Atheists believe that goodness and mercy are their own reward, and they don't have to invent a magical far far away where good deeds are rewarded. They are the type of people who can do good without wanting reward and without the "What's in it for me?" mentality.
