Was his name symbolic of the tribe of Judah? Did Jesus know from the very beginning that Judas would betray him, or did he have a shortlist (i.e. Peter, Judas, Matthew)? Perhaps I am being too introspective, but the average Christian reminds me more of Pontius Pilate and Paul (before his conversion) than those post-resurection guys. Wasn't Judas' confession of sin and acknowledgement of his betrayal enough for a quick trip to heaven? If not, what hope do the rest of us have?

Have you seen the national geographic documentary titled "The Lost Gospel" which has also come to be known as the gospel of Judas and gives a completely different perspective contrary to what christians say about Judas.

I really dont know, but He didnt believe that Christ was Lord and Saviour. He thought that Jesus would become King and overthrow the Roman army. When Jesus Our Lord and Saviour told him "MY kingdom is not of this world," Judas betrayed him. It is written "That the devil entered into him." Judas was also a thief. and yes Christ did know Judas was going to betray him. as He said "Did I not chose you and one of you is a devil?"
It is written "If you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Christ is Lord and that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."

In the grave, waiting for the second resurrection.

At that time, he will either be raised to everlasting life on earth, or to a declaration of judgment. If to judgment, than he ceases to exist, even in the minds of those living.
