I like some Christian music, but how can anyone stand the lyrics contained in some of them? How many ways can one sing about how "perfect" Jesus is? Love him or not, the songs are monotonous.

What you say is true! I myself cannot stand most of it. I call it praise Jesus music. It really has nothing to do with his teachings. Where did he say praise me? If you read the four gospels you will see he gave all glory to THE FATHER GOD IN HEAVEN! So where does this praise Jesus crap come from? Misguided teachings is the answer I come up with.

There are so many different Christian genres. They have rap, pop, country, rock, heavy metal. I am sure you haven't heard them all. Find a Family Christian Store and head to the CD's, you can listen first. (and if you like to save money you can sign up online for coupons)

Christian music is just another way to separate the Christians from everyone else. It's like they feel as if they're more important. It's sad really. And I was born one. But what I believe is closer to Buddhism, so screw that. :D
