Hello, I know what you are saying believe me. Several years ago I was so hooked to a particular cola. I had drank it so faithfully everyday in a liter bottle. I was so crabby that I was not happy till I had me my cola. I drank it through the day and night. I started to have stomach problems and the lining of my stomach was eaten away by the acids from the soda. I could hardly keep anything down even if I still had my cravings for that cola I could not even take a gulp of it that I would have burning sensations from it and upchuck everything in me. I had to ween myself from it immediately. I started to drink club soda and perrier water and distilled water. I went to the club soda first cause it was good to have that fizz and the perrier water felt so good in my tummy. I never had the juices because of the citris acids from the fruit. As far as you avoiding that favorite cola of yours it is going to have to take a whole lot of will power and perserverence to not have it. Try your best to avoid the caffinated beverages. All cans of soda contains up to 11 teaspoons of sugar. My cousin is currantly so addicted to it and still refuses to quit and she and her husband have diabetes and her husband is now in kidney failure and is currantly hospitalized and receiving care and treatment. They still are stubborn and refuse to quit that cola. Please be good to yourself and do what is healthy for you and your loved ones.

Slack off of it gradually, like you would for a coffee addiction. Figure out how many you drink a day, and start limiting it. Try mixing half decaf with regular along the way, too. Then mix it 3/4 decaf and regular. Do you enjoy your cola more at a meal? Or more with a snack? Leave that cut until last.
I was decafinated, have been for a long time. Now I drink one 12 oz caffeinated soda before I go to work, and no more. The caffeine revs me up to go to work.
Substitute something without caffiene, NOT soda or coffee, or tea, to drink instead. Diet Kool-aid, water are good choices. And once you get used to drinking something else, it will start quenching your thirst.

The best suggestion is to just not drink it. When you're craving cola, have a drink of your favorite juice instead, or have an apple or another fruit that you enjoy eating.
It's the same as quitting any other addiction, you have to train yourself to avoid the cituation, whether it means doing something else or making yourself just not think about it.
Water always makes a good substitute, too.

It's a tough addiction to crack, took me some time. It really depends on your reason for cutting coke; is it the sugar, the caffeine, the carbonation, or the chemicals? If sugar's the issue, you can switch to diet, which is pretty close, and a different type of diet pop (or diet caffeine free) will get rid of caffeine too. Juice is fine for carbonation, but watch out for really high ammounts of sugar/preservatives. Water's really best, though it might be a little bland. If you're really addicted, you might experience some mild withdrawl symptoms (irritability, headaches, etc.) Be strong.

It takes a lot of self control at first (if you are trying to stop drinking pop all together). A lot of it is all in your mind too. Try reaching for juice or water instead. If you can avoid pop all together it will start to taste really gross to you.

Good luck! =)
