well non-atheist would most probably pray and believe they will go somewhere, but in the case of an atheist, what's going through his mind?

If he's about to die, I would think he's thinking about what's on the other side of death and hoping it's not God since he's lived his life saying there is no God. He's played spiritual russian roulette with eternity all his life and now he's down to the last cylinder in his gun chamber. Does it have a bullit? Good luck. I say it does and he's about to blow his eternal head off.

What goes through anyone's mind as they face death? In my case, I am certain I won't pray, because I haven't prayed in over 30 years. I assume I will reflect upon my life and hope that I had done all I could to enrich the lives of those around me.

How do you know that a non-atheist would pray and believe? I would guess they are seeing their life as it was, kind of like reliving special moments. Or like when my dad died he wasn't praying he was telling my son he loved him and no matter what he would be with him. He kept my son calm when he knew he was dieing and they were on the water with very few boats out. I think we make peace with whatever we need to. But here is a better question, why when non-believers are in trouble to they say oh god help me?

Well, I can't speak for all atheists but my mother was convinced she would be reunited with my father again. Without any interference of any god whatsoever, by the way. On the actual moment of her departure I felt a big sense of relieve coming from her so I think she was thinking ( if she was thinking anything at all at that moment) "finally, some peace and quiet".

A non- atheist is the beliver of some religion and an athiest is the believer of his deeds. An athiest on death bed will renunciate his evil deeds to purify himself.

Is there anything that needs to be done before the final exit? Will, estate planning, dealing with the remains, and of course enjoying the company of anyone who is around at the time.

What is going through his mind would be thoughts about his life insurance taking care of his family after his departure.

Dang, I'm not really ready to die but it looks like this is the time. Oh well, at least I get to find out what, if anything, happens next.

maybe he will be sorry to waste his time ( which is very precious and uncompensatable according to him ) asking questions and answering others Qs' ..
and will say thank you big bang .. thank you evolution ..
you are great ones ... you bring me to life .. but why you want to take me away .?. and he will hope that these two great guys ( BIG-EVO brothers ) .. give him another chance to come again to this life which has no reason .. and has no intention ..
and he will be stuck what he should say ..
oh my big-bang ... or ... oh my evolution ...
