Yes most definately. Will he be getting a medical discharge? Just fill out the SS application and get all the documentation you can. SS will send him to a couple of doctors. If they deny at first appeal. Always appeal. They will pay back to the first appeal and back to the application date.
Good luck.

If the doctor feels he cannot work, I am sure he would qualify. As an officer in the Army he needs to talk to the Veteran's Administration. I know of two young men receiving a VA check after being diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
If he applies and is turned down, do not lose hope, the younger you are when you apply for VA or Soc Sec Disability, the more likely they are to turn you down a few times. There is an appeals process and it is frustrating but if there is a legitimate disability, time will work this out.
I do not know your financial situation, but in most states there are legal aid offices that will help with the appeals process AFTER you have applied and been turned down at least ONCE. It usually goes by income but there is an exception to every rule, so you can't lose anything by asking. Calling your local United Way Hot line will put you in touch with the Legal Aid office in your area.
Also, it is a little known fact that Social Security must assist you in filling out forms if you cannot. They cannot refuse.

i was in the military for 17 years, 5 army, 12 years uscg. i got a medical discharge for most of the same things. make sure it is all documented by army shrink. i had to be on a physc ward for allmost two months. the doctor there took my case to a medical board. witch at the time i did not know anything about it all. the va rated me at a % rate. so i am lucky to have a uscg pension and va pension. back to your question, a year later my wife said why dont you apply to social security, because its all the same govt. i did and social security agreed within four months. military said i was disabled and they agreed. they also went back a year and a half to when i was first diagnoiesed. and payed me back pay for all that time. the check was nice but not as good as the check every month. me and your husband both worked and deserve it. i did not need or get a lawyer. so i did not give anyone a third. get it documented and the military will say it is service related. the va is supposed to take care of disabled vets. for some it does take years, but when one part of the govt. says you are disabled the other will agree.. believe me. he will really need your love and support for many years. if you think he may need hospitialitation sometimes be thre to take him. visit, and take him back home. we really do love the ones in our lifes, but we cant handel our on sometimes. allways talk. be honest with each other and drs. sorry so long. my life also. god bless.
sorry. by the way, your answer is yes. yes.

Sounds like he would now be diagnosed as having post traumatic stress disorder. It is going to take work as people usually get turned down the first time but yes he should be able to get funding. Especially if he can get backing from a military psychiatrist. He should try to get as much paperwork as possible prior to being discharged. And treatment. It is difficult to get good treatment when on social security and it is not cheap.
Actually he should receive some sort of pension from the army although I don't know a lot about that.

It can be a long process, taking years, but don't let that deter your husband. People frequently qualify for Social Security based on depression and anxiety. The key to qualifying is that your husband needs to have medical documentation and be seeing a physician for his condition on a regular basis. By "physician" I mean psychiatrist and by "regular basis" I mean AT LEAST every two to three months.

he most likely can.i am on full disability due to bipolar disorder.i had to reapply a couple of times but when it was approved, i also got all my back pay. i am not sure they still do that, but you can check on it. just find him a good doctor, explain the problem, and he should guide you from there.
good luck
