Illegal, especially because of Poker Bot...which is both illegal and doesn't work (doesn't take a genius to know that)!

Online poker is not illegal to play in the US. The new regulations apply to banks and financial institutions, not individuals who play poker online. The best information I have seen in regard to this issue has been at http://www.cardplayer.com/poker_law/
I believe that players from the US will continue to be able to play poker online. Some big poker sites have stated that they will still accept US players.
One issue with this new law has to do with ACH (Automated Clearing House) transactions. The banks and financial institutions can not tell the difference between an online gambling deposit and a online mortgage payment. So, it would be very difficult if not impossible for them to block these electronic transfers.
I would still recommend all poker players go to http://www.pokerplayersalliance.org/ and sign up. They are helping to try and protect the game of poker in light of the new online gaming legislation.

With Pokerstars staying on in the US I think online poker will remain pretty normal in the US. Their official statement made me really happy http://www.pokerstars.com/legislation/uigea/?source=ultimatepokerbankroll.com since they really took their time to formulate their plan. When Party pulled out after a day of the signing Stars actually decided to get legal advice and see what the situation would be.
Alot of sites seem to be taking the same position as stars with their statements which really makes me think online poker can't be stamped out by a weak act of Congress.

From what I understand it will be shutdown in America. The gov't has made it illegal to send money via the internet to foreign countries for gambling payment via PayPal, etc. The major poker websites have already seen a major decline in stocks and investors. It looks like the end of it in America for now. i sure somebody wil find a loophole to make it work again. So much for the free world. Until the gov't finds a way to take their fair cut of it they are going to stop it. Greedy Bastards!!!!!!

I've done a full article reviewing the details of the so-called "Internet Gambling Ban". The page includes a link to all sites allowing American players.

There IS no ban! The Act Bush signed changes nothing. DON'T PANIC!!
