Since you didn't say "how far back", I am assuming you mean from which areas. My family tree has branches in England, Germany, Ireland, and France. Once they hit US soil in the late 1700's and early 1800's, they branched into most of the states. Starting in New York and Pennsylvania, they forked into most of the Midwest states, eventually ending in California. Two of my branches I can verify back to about 1650.

From Africa-- straight into Asia and Europe. [other posters replied chronologically, which may in fact be the 'fork' to which you were referring-- I thought of my directional fork :)]
My dad is 100% African, but my mom's parents were both a quarter European (English on paternal side, Jewish on the other), a quarter Native American (Cherokee and Blackfoot-- Asiatic origin, as we know), and half African descent.
Most of my American uncles and cousins married Caucasians (one married a Latino, and one an Asian). Within my mom's immediate family alone (not to mention all the in-laws), our gene 'deck' has dealt every possible human shade of skin and eyes. It's a gorgeous family, if I do say so myself, and the ideal way of the world, IMHO.

My family tree suddenly got stunted. I have no progeny, so I guess it ends with me. Unless you can count step-children. My father's family goes on and on, however, on his numerous brothers' and sisters' part. My mother's side, with exception of me, is not much of a fork, as her only two brothers had no children; a sister had offspring with offspring, so that fork is doing better.

I've traced my family back all the way to biblical times. One of the sides of my family has royalty of Europe written into it, and royalty genealogy at the time was recorded in order to make sure that royalty stayed royalty.

My mom's dad came was born in Gloversville, New York (1901). His mom was from there. His dad was from Yeovil, England.
My mom's mother was born in Bismarck, North dakota (1914). One of her parents was from Kansas, the other from Wisconsin.
One of my grandparents had a grandparent from Belgium named Achsah.
My dad was born and adopted shortly after birth in New Hampshire. So I don't know his blood side. He was raised in Massachusetts and Puerto Rico (His adopted dad ran a brewery).

verifiably, back to 1629. There are theories for before then, but alas, records are not so easy to find for much before that.
